2018 went not so bad for Charles, he finished 13 out of 20 for his rookie season in Formula 1 and that's quite good. 2019 started even better, he got pole on the second race in Bahreïn, he finished in good positions and earned quite a few points which gave him a fairly high position in the rankings. Plus, he drove for The Red Team, Ferrari, in only his second year in the sport !
Unfortunately, something they didn't expect happened. 2 years after losing Hervé, 4 after losing Jules, they lost someone again, Anthoine Hubert, a Frenchman close to Charles from their karting days. The accident happened in Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium. Some drivers were being interviewed at the moment and many recordings have gone viral because of their live reaction. From the images, everyone knew it was bad, and it was on a track known for being really dangerous when wet. Regrettably, Anthoine didn't make it and the F1 drivers paid him tribute before their own race.
Julie didn't hesitate to go see his parents, sharing her condolences and affection as she knew what it was losing a family member on the track. She also went to see Pierre. He lost one of his best friends, and she knew he needed someone to confess to, so she went to be the shoulder he could cry on. Charles joined them when he could, and they talked, sharing memories of Anthoine, making Julie get to know him a bit better as she only knew him as a friend of Charles.
Charles paid him the best tribute that could ever be done, as he went on to win the race that week-end, his first ever win in Formula 1. As usual, he lifted his finger towards the sky, dedicating it to everyone they had lost, Jules, Hervé and Anthoine. Julie shed a few tears from all the pressure finally stopping from the emotionally exhausting week-end.
When they got back home, Pascale made sure she hugged them both a little bit tighter. The next few weeks were spent with family before the break ended and Charles and Julie went back to the paddock until the Abu Dhabi GP. The surprise was that Charles also won in Monza, Ferrari's home race. Finally, he finished fourth of the Championship with 264 points, in front of his teammate Sebastian Vettel who couldn't be prouder, seeing so many new young talents, with one of them being his own teammate. The last party of the season, they celebrated with everyone, they celebrated the good and bad, the victories and losses.
When 2020 rolled around, they didn't know what they were in for. Covid happened. Because of lockdown, races were cancelled and they didn't know when they would start again. But soon, Charles got bored, and he got a message from Lando to join him on stream and play the sim together or just play video games together. He accepted and discovered something he didn't know existed. He enjoyed himself so much that he decided to create his own Twitch account and started streaming frequently. Julie sometimes made appearances and she was more and more requested by the chat. That made them both happy, seeing as they were supported by Charles's fans and not receiving any hate.
The only time when Charles got angry seeing his lover's name in the chat was when someone subbed using her name. Thankfully, the misunderstand had been cleared, as the person really was Julie. She subbed to his channel, knowing he'd see her message because she was blowing up his phone but wouldn't look at it. She was stuck outside of the apartment for 15 minutes now and needed Charles to unlock it for her. They had a good laugh about it afterwards and Julie ended up on the stream with Charles much to the viewers's delight.
Meanwhile, Julie took the time the lockdown offered her, to paint once again. She found pleasure in painting whatever was in her mind, which was most of the time Charles and the memories they created together or with their friends and family. So she painted them, painting them from behind so she wouldn't have to paint faces, but well enough so that one could still recognize the person. She also started sharing more of her passion on her Instagram, as she couldn't share anything from the paddock as she usually did, she didn't want to stop being active, she loved what she did, and people also loved what she shared so she wasn't scared of sharing her paintings which were welcomed very warmly.
When the races started once again, it was already July, about 5 months of the season had already been lost so the FIA had to rearrange the whole calendar, organizing races on the same track for consecutive week-ends. But they at least managed to organize 17 GP up until December which was like a miracle for the drivers as they believed they wouldn't really race that year.
They all were overjoyed to see each other in real life once again, of course respecting the safety rules, but they hung out together even more than before. Well more the young drivers like Lando, George, Alex, Carlos, Pierre, Charles and Max. And they of course brought their own girlfriend when they could, but Julie was the one who was there the most often, so she really forged links with them. She wasn't just a driver's girlfriend anymore, she was Julie, their friend and yes, Charles's lover.
