FORT BRAGG, NORTH CAROLINA

13:22PMDr. Harishva "Harry" Pandey introduced himself as he settled into the chair across from her.
He was a brown-skinned man, and Katherine noted the Indian origin of his name.
Yet, his voice carried a polished British accent, reflecting an education that spoke of sophistication. He was tall and lanky, his physique suggesting an athletic build despite his slender frame.
Katherine noted that, in a pinch, she could likely take him down if it came to that.
Yet, the idea felt far from practical.
Although she wasn't handcuffed and the room was just the two of them, a dark one-way mirror loomed to her side, a stark reminder that Harry was not the only one scrutinizing their conversation.
She could sense the weight of unseen eyes, listening intently, making her acutely aware that this was not just a casual chat. The stakes were high, and she needed to tread carefully.
"Gustave mentioned you're from Britain, Katherine. May I ask where abouts?" he inquired, his warm smile and kind eyes making the question feel genuinely inviting.
Katherine nodded, her gaze drifting as she replied, "I'm originally from London, but I grew up in the Lake District."
She watched as his smile widened at her words."I've never had the chance to visit the Lake District," Harry said, his tone genuinely intrigued. "I've heard it's beautiful, however."
"Yeah, it is," Katherine agreed, though internally she felt a pang of nostalgia.
The truth was, her memories of the Lake District weren't exactly fond; she had spent her time there bound by her father's control, never truly able to explore the beauty that surrounded her."How old are you, Katherine?" he asked, a curious glint in his eyes.
"Please, call me Kitty," she interjected, glancing at his face as his smile faltered for a moment. Realizing she might have been too abrupt, she quickly added, "Sorry, it's just that 'Katherine' makes me feel like an old woman."
Her comment elicited a soft chuckle from him, and she felt a warmth spread through the room, easing the tension.
He nodded, a genuine smile returning to his face. "Kitty it is, then," he replied, his tone warm and inviting.
"I'm 26," she replied, her voice steady. "My birthdays August 4th."
Harry looked up from his notes, a friendly smile returning to his face. "Ah, a Leo!" he said with a light chuckle. "August birthdays are often associated with strong personalities. Do you find that holds true for you, Kitty?"
She smiled, her brows knitting together in confusion at the unexpected direction of the conversation.
Rather than probing her with intense questions, he seemed more interested in small talk, asking about her life and experiences.
