Chapter 21

I sit still as a cool breeze hits the back of my legs and I slowly take a deep breath in. I exhale and finally open my eyes to see the white paper sheet in my hands. It was a friday afternoon and the last day of school had ended. I was sitting on my bed with my report facing the opposite side so I couldn't see anything written on the paper. I swear I better have passed or else mom will make me study all summer break... When I finally got some courage, I turned the page. Instantly my eyes widened and the side of my lips curved up. "I passed!" I jumped up from my bed and started jumping up and down in excitement. "Yes, yes, YES!" I yelled continuously. Suddenly Hyunjin opened the door looking frustrated. "Why the hell are you screaming like a dying rat.." he sighed. I stopped jumping and started to giggle. I passed for the semester!" I said as I stuck my tongue out at him. Hyunjin grabbed the paper and ran downstairs with it. "Yah, you little mutt!" I shouted as I ran after him. Mom chuckled. "You must be happy with your results Y/N." "Well kinda.." She then took the piece of paper out of Hyunjin's hand and her eyes searched through the paper. I picked my fingers feeling rather nervous to see her reaction. She smiled and gave it back to me. "You mainly got (B's) this semester, I see your improving." "Yeah, but she got a (C) on maths." Hyunjin blurted out. "Math is my weak subject Hyunjin..." I said as I gritted my teeth. Mom sighed and made eye contact with me. I knew what was coming she was probably going to give me a long lecture on how I should study more. "I'm proud of you because you're improving, but you need to work on the subject you lack on." I looked at the ground and didn't answer her, feeling rather ashamed."I heard a boy in your class got an (A+) on math, I think his name was Shim Jaeyun..?" I immediately fixed my gaze on her when she mentioned Jake. She raised an eyebrow at me and spoke up. "What's with the reaction, are you guys close?-" "His my seatmate!, well kinda..." Mom nodded. "Maybe you should ask him to torture you, I mean he seems smart and you need the help." I heard Hyunjin snicker in the kitchen and I felt like I could lose it. I sighed. "Okay, I'll ask him for help when we go back to school  after summer break." "Oh no, no, no, you're not going to go out with any of your friends unless you have a few math lessons with him." I could not believe what she was saying. This is just such an amazing start to my summer break! "How many is a few?" "Three is the minimum." "Ugh, fine." I shrugged. "That's deep" Hyunjin said as he walked up the stairs. So much for celebrating...

I paced around in my room staring at that one specific contact, it read "Jake(IKEU)" I sighed and cleared my throat before pressing the "Call" button. I tapped my foot continuously as I patiently waited for him to pick up.

{Jake's POV:}
"Heeseung, run,run it's coming!" I shouted. Heeseung screamed as he ran and hid in a locker. "Ow, dude did you forget we are wearing headphones?" I laughed. "Bro, you scream like a girl." Ni-ki cackled. "Oh come on the monster almost killed me!" He replied. "Yo, Jake I got some batteries in my inventory." Ni-ki said. "Great we need them for our flashlights- oh shit run Ni-ki!" "AHH!" we both screamed as the monster chased us in the hallway. Ni-ki and I ran in a room and locked the door. We immediately burst out laughing. We were all on a discord call and playing a horror game together. "Uh Heeseung you still alive?-" I was suddenly interrupted by the sound of my phone buzzing. I looked down at my phone and my mind froze when I saw who was calling me, it said "Y/N". "Uh, guys I gotta go on mute real quick." "Alright." Heeseung said. I put myself on mute and took a deep breath in before answering. "Hello?" I wonder what she wants

{Y/N'S POV:}
I felt a cold rush cover my body when his voice was present. I found myself lost in words and my throat became very dry. "Hello..?" He repeated. It felt like my heart was about to jump out of my chest, this was my first time calling Jake. Just say something it's not that hard! "U-uh hello." I let out heavily. "Are you okay, what's up?" "I-its a long story." I then explained everything to Jake about my report and what my mom said. "So...yeah, I can't go anywhere with you guys unless you torture me for at least three lessons.."
Jake sighed and didn't respond I felt like I could die. "I mean you don't have to, it's summer break and it would be selfish of me to make you torture me when you should be resting-" "I'll do it." He interrupted. I froze in my spot, surprised at his response. "W-what..?" "I said I'll do it, I'll torture you." I felt my cheeks heat up. Is he being serious..? "I mean , I did want to spend summer break with all my friends, I can't just let you sit at home studying all summer break while the rest of us are having fun, plus it would be boring without you anyway." I hummed in response and sighed. "I'm sorry Jake... , it's my fault I didn't study better for math." "Don't be sorry Y/N , math is just your weak subject that's all." "Thank you Jake, I'm so glad we are friends."

{Jake's POV:}
I froze and caught myself smiling at Y/N's words. My ears became very hot and I was smiling the whole time. I chuckled softly. Cute "No problem Y/N, I'm always here for you." Y/N chuckled and spoke up. "So when do we start?" "How do you feel about tomorrow?" I asked. "Sure, that's perfect!" "I know a cafe nearby that could be a good spot." "Oh great , I guess I'll see you tomorrow." I hummed in response and said goodbye before ending the call. I giggled as I replayed the whole conversation in my head. Suddenly my mom came into my room with a bag of chips." "Ikeu I got some-" she froze and didn't continue to finish her sentence once she saw me smiling like a complete idiot. I instantly stopped smiling and looked away as if nothing happened. She raised an eyebrow at me and said in a teasing tone. "So, who got you smiling like that." She smirked. "Is it a girl?-" "Mom, Heeseung just sent me a funny video." I chuckled awkwardly. She hummed in response but didn't seem convinced at all. "I'll just leave these chips here on your desk." I nodded and she gave me a kiss on my forehead. She closed the door behind her as she left and I sighed in relief. Phew...
