As the girls get ready, Mary confronts Georgiana.

"I did not want to go to the gathering tonight," she states.

"I know-I'm sorry—I wanted to go but my brother won't let me. So I lied!" Georgiana confesses. "Besides, it will be fun! Mr William is hosting it and he is known for his soirées!" She said as Mary tried to do her hair. "Can I put a little rouge on you?" Georgiana offered to a hesitant Mary.

"Sure," Mary hesitated.

"Also you can wear my clothes, since I put you in this situation," she offered

"Okay"

"And besides Robbie and Mr Rodley will be with us!" She said excitedly.

As the two girls got ready, the mood was pleasant. Georgiana helped Mary with getting ready, just like her sisters did. Mary felt very comfortable and home with Georgiana. She could not help but think about Mr Burton and his quirky personality which she weirdly admired.

"Robert!" Georgiana shouts snapping Mary out of her reverie.

"What?" She asks confused.

"Robert and William are friends too...

"Robert?"

"Robert Burton, my cousin, who you just met few minutes ago!" She reminds her.

"Yes! Mr Burton, of course," Mary says as Georgiana continues talking.

Robert, remembered her of Mr Wright again and the reply she will or will not write to him. She wondered what he must be doing now? Was he with Lily Kingsley? Are they engaged? Even if they were who would tell her? She had to write to her parents and Kitty of course, and maybe Mr Wright.

"Georgiana," Mary called. "Have you ever liked someone?" She asks.

"Yes, why you ask?" Georgiana asks caught off guard.

"Do you like a person of you like their company? Or is that just friendship?" She asked trying to get another perspective of Mr Wright and her relationship.

"You found out?" She said as if she had been caught. "Was it that obvious?"

"What?" Mary asked confused.

"That I liked Mr Rodley!"

"You do?" Mary asked confused.

"Yes, but you must promise you won't tell this to anyone, especially Elizabeth."

"Yes, yea! I promise," Mary said as they were called downstairs.

Now Mary understood the peculiar behaviour Georgiana displayed during the piano classes. It was all because she liked Mr Rodley?

As they walked down, Mary was pulled aside by Elizabeth and cautioned on not to get herself involved in anything that was wrong. Despite Elizabeth knowing Mary was no trouble like Lydia or even Kitty sometimes, she couldn't help but warn her this once to behaviour herself if she wanted to be presented respectfully in the society.

"If you want to have any chances of finding a good man at Mr Adam's ball next week, then do not do anything outrageous tonight," she warned her little sister.

"Also take care of Georgiana, keep an eye on her always!" She added as she let her sister and sister in law depart.

They traveled with Mr Burton, who acted as their chauffeur.

"Where is Mr Rodley?" Georgiana asked.

"He will meet us there," Mr Burton said dryly.

"Are you angry with me Robbie?" Georgiana asked concerned.
