Autumn was feeding her baby while talking to her brother in the office,
"Have you spoke to dad?"
"No. He hasn't bothered to ask about me or his granddaughter" the woman rolls her eyes.

She wasn't expecting any genuine concern from her father, but at least maybe a call from his assistant. She did give birth only a few weeks ago.

"Of course he hasn't" the blonde shook his head. Autumn didn't care much. She was finally in a good place with her brother again, Winter gave her everything she never knew she needed. And her daughter filled the missing pieces of her heart. They were her family. The family she needed. Roger wasn't her family. He was just a blood relative.

Over the course of her life, Autumn had rarely let anyone in. Her brother meant the world to her as a child. After her mother left, and with her father's lack of parental guidance, Autumn didn't have a lot. There was one person she adored though, one girl who always managed to cheer her up with a stupid joke and was always there to give her any advice she needed. Mia.

After prom night, Autumn lost everything. She had no one. The light in her eyes slowly left and her world darkened. She had pretended she didn't care for so long that she actually started believing it.

Once she found out the truth about what happened that night, Autumn had tried to move on. She was starting her own family and that's all she needed. Holding on to the past brings nothing but misery.

Despite this, Mia has been on the woman's mind more recently. Since Autumn met Isadora. She couldn't get the resemblance between Isadora and Mia as a younger girl out of her mind.

Mia had changed a lot since her teenage years, no one would know Isadora looked like her unless they knew Mia years ago.

"Have you met the new girl?" Autumn asked her brother,
"I've met all the staff from the other nursery yeah"
"No she's completely new, Isadora" Reece recognised the name as someone Marjore had mentioned,
"No I haven't met her. Why?"
"She..." the woman thought about it, "I don't know"
"Aut?"
"She looks like Mia"

Reece raised a brow,
"Mia?"
"Yes. Like a younger Mia. The brown hair, icey blue eyes"
"A lot of people have brown hair and blue eyes Aut" he replied
"Not like Mia did. This girl, she seemed...I don't know"

Reece could see that Autumn was being serious about this girl, but he didn't believe this was only about Isadora.
"I think you're just under a lot of stress, coming back to work, the baby, Winter, it's a lot. Especially this time of year" Autumn narrows her eyes at her brother,
"I'm fine brother"
"You bruised my right leg because I tried to leave the room with my niece" he stated.
"I don't like being away from her"

Reece smiles softly at the woman,
"You're a good mum Aut, and strong. And I know you'll always do your best for her" Autumn knew what Reece was getting at, and she appreciated his concern,
"I'm alright Reece. We don't need to do this" Reece nodded. The siblings do not talk about their feelings, with anyone, but they both know if they ever needed someone, they have each other.

Today was the siblings' mother's birthday, it can be a sensitive time for them as they remember their mother. Some might have thought she were dead, even the siblings had their thoughts of whether it would be better is she was. Would death be better than the pain of being abandoned? At least then they would have something to blame other than themselves.

After reece left his sister, he got a text from Marjorie about covering someone. Walking into her office, he notices the light catch something on the floor.

Picking it up he finds a necklace, a gold chain with a heart shaped pearl wrapped in gold.
"Hey did you drop this?" Marjorie looks at the necklace closer,
"No it's not mine"
