16. Goodbye

The sun had risen the next morning and Mia was already on her way to the Knight house.

Once she arrived, she sat in Reece's bedroom with him and Autumn.
"Okay, I need to talk to you both about something"
"What's wrong?" Autumn asks
"I... I got this opportunity to go to a really good program that could really affect my future. At a boarding school" Mia told them
"That's amazing"
"Yeah... but"
"But what?"
"I'll be gone for like a year. And I won't see you both" the siblings looked at each other before looking back at the brunette
"Oh"
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner, I didn't find out until yesterday"

"So when do you leave?" Reece questions. Mia took a deep breath before answering,
"Tonight"
"Tonight?!"
"I'm sorry. But I have to go. You understand right?"
"Of course we do, this is great for you" Reece smiles but the teen couldn't hide the tears that stung the backs of his eyes

"A whole year?" Autumn asked. Mia nodded and wiped her own eyes that filled with tears
"I'm really gonna miss you"
"I'm really gonna miss you too" the younger girl replied and wrapped her arms around Mia's neck.

Once they pulled away, Mia locked eyes with the blond. Neither of them said anything, just hugged each other tightly.

Mia pulled away and cleared her throat,
"But this isn't goodbye, okay? We have all day" autumn nodded with a small smile and Mia held onto Reece's hand.

In only a few hours she was supposed to leave them. The two people she loved most in this world and she had to willingly leave them, as well as keeping the biggest secret she could ever keep from them. Could this possibly get any worse?

The next four hours Mia spent with Reece and Autumn. They laughed and they messed about and they chilled. Until the last minute.

"I love you" Mia mumbled into Reece's shoulder,
"Love you too" The blond pulled away to face her properly, "don't get yourself into to much trouble, okay?"
"Oh Reecey you don't know me at all" the girl smirked causing Reece to laugh.

Mia faced Autumn,
"Watch him for me okay Aut? And you call if you need me for anything" Mia smiled
"I will do. I'll miss you"
"I miss you both already"

The three stood in silence for a moment. This was it. Mia released a deep breath and stepped back from the siblings,
"Not goodbye, remember? I'll see you later, okay?" The two nodded,
"See you later" the siblings replied before Mia got into the car that Roger had provided. It would take her back to her house to pick up her bags and say goodbye to her mother before she left.

Mia waited until she was out of the driveway before she broke down in tears. Leaving Reece and Autumn felt like a knife in the chest. And what hurt even more was that she stabbed herself.
