Mia didn't sleep that night. She was so overwhelmed with thoughts. How was it possible? She had no idea what she was going to do. She needed Reece. The brunette heard her mother come in the early hours of the morning. What would she say about all this? Probably just call her a slut. 'After everything I do for you and you repay me like this?!'
Mia starts to wonder what eveyone else would think, would it be the same? A sixteen year old mum. What about Roger? Mia knew he didn't have one maternal bone in him, but what would he think about this? He either would hate it and wouldn't allow it, or maybe he would? Maybe he would want an 'heir' to the family name. She wasn't sure.
As for Autumn, she would probably love the idea of a niece or nephew. She was only thirteen and starting to figure out who she was now. Autumn was quiet, she liked old music and reading in her room. She wasn't into the parties and drinks that Mia was at her age. And Mia loved that. She always cared about Autumn like she was her little sister, and without a mother figure, Mia was the only one Autumn could turn to. She talked her through her first period, taught her about make up and all things girly.
"Amelia!" The shout brought the girl from her thoughts. She sighed and opened her door,
"What?"
"Get down here" her mother shouted. Mia dragged herself down stairs to meet her "why haven't the dishes been done? I told you to do them before I left"
"Mum it's six in the morning"
"I don't bloody care. Do you know how hard I work? The least you could do is help around the house" Mia couldn't exactly tell her why she hadn't cleaned up. But it was no use anyway. Usually when her mother had bad shifts at work she would come home and take it out on her daughter, even if there was nothing to argue about."Alright I'm sorry I was distracted"
"Can't bloody do anything you! Absolutely useless" the older woman muttered as she walked up the stairs. Maybe she was right. What was Mia thinking? She couldn't do this. She couldn't be a mum. She couldn't do anything right, how was she supposed to raise a child? The girl huffed, went back to her room and changed clothes. As she turned out she faced the stick on her bed. One little stick. She quickly picked it up and went down to the furthest corner in her room and kneeled down. She lifted the carpet, revealing the wooden floorboards. One had been separated from the rest and underneath Mia had hidden a box with things she wanted to keep safe.
She placed the test up and shoved the box in her bag, ready to throw it in a bin on her way out. She started to put on a little makeup. She couldn't really be bothered and didn't need it, but it distracted her mind for a moment before she went back to reality.
Mia loved doing make up, hers and other people's. Not only was it a way to cover up her insecurities but it was just simply a passion. Looks were everything to Mia, it's all she had. She didn't grow up with money to throw at every problem, she didn't have that.
There are two types of people in the world. Two ways to succeed. You can either be born into money and have eveything handed to you on a silver platter, or you work for everything you have. Some people choose to live the life they were given, and others work to better themselves.
Mia wasn't born with a silver spoon like Reece and Autumn. But she did feel quite lucky to experience parts of that life. Roger Knight payed for Mia to go to Cranford private school along with his children. He also allowed Mia to stay at their house most days, sometimes even nights. Mia had always been close with the Knight siblings. And when she and Reece took their friendship the next level, Roger was surprisingly supportive.
Mia had always questioned why Roger was so nice to her, and if she was good enough. After her father left, Roger was the only man in her life really, and she was around him a lot. Mia was thankful to the man, she owed him a lot. She just wasn't sure why he picked her when he couldn't even be nice to his own children.
After she had finished getting ready, Mia left her house and began walking. She wasn't sure when Reece and Autumn were planning to get home, but she hoped it was soon. The teen had created multiple scenarios of how she would tell Reece and Autumn. She planned out everything in her mind over and over again in every possible way.
Once she reached the mansion with big black gates, she stared up at the house. There were two ways this could go. She could easily sneak round the back and through the side door, up to Reece's room and wait in there for him like she had done a thousand times before. Or she could just go knock on the door and talk to Roger.
So the girl walked around the big house, at the back there was a fence and tree stump she would use to help herself over, then she can get in the house through the door at the far west corner of the house.
Mia had been to the Knight house thousands of times. She knew where everything was just like it was her own home. It also helped when she and Reece would sneak in past curfew. She had never been caught before and thought this time would be no different. She thought.
The girl slowly closed the door making sure not to make a big noise. When she turned around, the hallway wasn't as empty as she expected.
"Good morning Amelia"
