The sight Y/N arrived at was not a pretty one
Siren Drones zipped through the air like the most dangerous mosquitoes, shooting down any plane that tried to take flight and dropping bombs like they were deadly birds. The sight alone raised Y/Ns hackles, memories of distant battles and lost friends surfacing at such a sight
Worse yet was the rising plume of smoke from the harbour, fire and water fighting to remain on the sinking hull of a ship he couldn't recognize through its demolished form, though he could tell it was a destroyer
As he ran, each footfall powerful enough to shake the docks beneath him, Y/N turned his sights to the distant horizon in hopes of seeing what had come to attack the base. His eyes flew over the distant waves and under the rolling clouds as his enhanced vision searched for his prey
He spotted them, distant as they were, just North of his position. They were moving quickly, quicker than he was used to for Mass-Produced Ships, diagonally from the port. The Rooks fire gave them away, the distant explosion of smoke all Y/n needed to spot their entire fleet
"3 Queens, 4 Rooks, 10 Bishops, 12 Knights and 20 Pawns." He counted them off, noting how one of the carriers had its own cloud of smoke rising from its deck. Someone had gotten a hit on their advanced foe and Y/N promised himself he would find who it was and congratulate them "A surprisingly small fleet"
From his current position, Y/N couldn't spot any Elite Sirens, which wasn't odd for such a small fleet. This was probably one of their roaming units, ordered to attack any human ports they came across
And to think he ripped the Lurkers code from her body for such a measly threat
"Well, Sirens are Sirens."
With a roar that had the waves around him picking up in intensity, Y/N rockets himself off the docks with all the strength his legs allowed, cutting through the air like a fabric-covered bullet before landing safely on the water's surface and taking off running
A neat little power that Kansen possessed was the ability to skate on water at high speeds. Unfortunately, this ability only came when they had their Riggings attacked, along with many other powers that had them become gods of war
Y/N didn't have his Riggings though, so he simply ran across the water's surface, small waves breaking at his ankles unable to even slow down his stride
"Knew I should have brought my ship" Y/N grouched as he closed the distance between himself and the enemy. He traced their movements, watching as their guns turned to face him, the distant barrels facing him down like large dark eyes
He contemplated releasing his longest companion to deal with the incoming danger
"No."
He couldn't unleash his companion.
Not while there were humans nearby.
Actual living humans.
This wasn't an empty word.
This wasn't the graveyard of a hundred nations.
This wasn't the eternal end.
This was Earth.
There were living people here
He would not subject them to such horrors
Besides... it would end things too quickly
Y/n felt his core speed up, simulation a beating heartbeat that was bursting with the will to fight. Bursting with adrenalin and power that willed him forward like a missile on a mission
