Scarlett's POVI was standing in the Mclaren hospitality. Everyone would be excited for this, but I was actually dreading it.
I was waiting for Lando, his last PR manager quit because he was being such a little asshole lately.
He was fighting for the championship with Max and to be fair also with Alix.
I don't know what happened between the two of them, but she hated him and he ignored her.Something definitely happened, but no one knew. Not even my sister Vanna, who was dating Alix's brother.
One day they were being all over each other in the paddock, helping each other on track and the next, they ignored each other and battled harder than they should.
And ever since that day, Lando turned into the devil, causing his PR manager to quit.
So here I was, taking her place. I never really cared about what people said or thought. I could handle his asshole attitude.
He walked in with his trainer, who told him something and he immediately looked at me.
His gaze traveled over my body, I swear I could see his eyes roll as he walked up to me, he leaned on the counter in the hospitality with one arm and looked at me.
"Hi, I'm Scarlett, I'm your new PR manager" I said as enthusiastically as I could.
He looked at me, probably already bored, but his eyes definitely stayed too long on my lips. "Interesting"
He grabbed an apple out of the basket with different fruits and took a bite out of it. "Let's go then, Red"
"My name is Scarlett, I literally just told you" I said as I walked after him. He took another bite of his apple and didn't even look at me. "Isn't scarlet a shade of red?"
"Well-" I shrugged. "Yeah"
"Well then" he shrugged, looked at Alix as we walked passed her.
I wish I could describe the way they looked at each other.
I am gonna try anyways.
She looked at Lando as if he was the devil, as if he broke her heart in thousand pieces, as if she wanted to kill him.
And Lando, he looked at her as if she was his downfall.
But just as fast as they looked at each other, that's how fast he broke their eye contact. He threw his apple away in the nearest trashcan.
If I knew them better, I would definitely ask what the fuck was up between the two of them, but I was sure he wouldn't tell me either way.
"One time, I threw my phone in the trashcan instead of my actual trash" I said. I was trying to break the tension and I tend to overtalk a lot.
Lando looked at me, his eyebrow raised. "Why are you telling me this?"
"Just a funny story" I shrugged.
"It wasn't funny" he mumbled, walked to the media pen and did his interviews.
He didn't like them, but to be fair, I also thought they were pretty boring.
I couldn't help myself but yawn, probably the worst thing a PR manager could do, but there were all asking the same questions.
Lando looked at me, and I swear, his lips curled up a little.
"Why are you here?" Lando asked as we were walking back to the hospitality.
"To be your PR manager"
He tilted his head, raised his eyebrow.
"Okay okay because I like F1" I quickly said.
"Are we playing two lies and a truth or something" A smile crossed his face.
The first real smile today.
"Yes" I nodded. "Third statement - I think you're quite handsome"
"Oh, you think I'm handsome?" His smile grew bigger.
I chuckled. "You've to catch the truth, you know"
He shook his head as he walked in the hospitality, but he was still smiling, so that was a good thing at least.
