The Great Hall was buzzing with the familiar sounds of students chatting, cutlery clattering, and the occasional owl swooping in to deliver letters. Carina sat at the Slytherin table, nestled comfortably between Enzo and Draco, her plate half-empty as she focused more on the conversation around her than the food.
"So, the prank's all set, right?" Enzo whispered conspiratorially, leaning in slightly. His eyes gleamed with excitement as he laid out the final details. "We'll swap the ingredients in the Potions cupboard tomorrow. Blaise is on lookout, Theo will distract Snape, and you and I make the switch."
Carina smirked, nodding as she speared a piece of food with her fork. "It's perfect. The first years won't know what hit them."
"Let's just hope Snape doesn't figure it out," Draco added with a chuckle, though he clearly wasn't too worried. "He's got enough on his plate without catching us mid-prank."
"Snape's got a soft spot for Slytherins," Blaise chimed in from across the table, leaning back in his seat lazily. "We'll be fine."
Pansy leaned in, clearly trying to catch more of the plan. "What's the distraction? What are you going to have Theo do?"
Enzo grinned wickedly. "Simple. He'll knock over a cauldron of Bubotuber pus. That'll have Snape scrambling."
Carina chuckled, imagining the chaos it would cause. "Good thing we'll be far enough away by then."
As they continued whispering and laughing about their plan, Carina couldn't help but glance over toward the Gryffindor table. She hadn't seen Harry or Ron since the train ride, and something about their absence still gnawed at her. She frowned slightly, her mind drifting as she scanned the faces at the other table.
Enzo noticed her distraction and nudged her playfully. "What's up, Gray? Thinking about how you're going to out-prank me?"
Carina rolled her eyes but smiled. "Something like that." She pushed her plate away and stood up, brushing off her robes. "I'll be right back."
As she made her way toward the Gryffindor table, she spotted Hermione sitting with Neville, Ginny, and a few others. Carina slid into the seat next to them, catching Hermione's attention.
"Hey," Carina said, her tone more serious now. "Any word on Harry and Ron?"
Hermione shook her head, a worried crease between her brows. "No. They still haven't arrived. I've been checking the entrance every five minutes, but there's nothing."
