The end of the year feast was drawing to a close. Plates that had been piled high with roasted meats, steaming vegetables, and decadent puddings were now empty or cleared away, the sounds of clinking cutlery and chatter beginning to fade. Students were moving off their benches, preparing to leave for their common rooms for the last time this year.
That was until Carina Black leaped onto the Slytherin table, her boots thudding loudly on the polished wood, startling everyone into silence. She grinned mischievously as she raised her hands to quiet the room, her voice echoing above the hum of confusion.
"Ladies, gentlemen, and every magical being in between!" she called, her eyes glinting with mischief. "Before we all head back to our common rooms, I propose a little... entertainment. A game! One that I guarantee will be the perfect way to end this year."
Whispers rippled through the Hall as students and even some professors looked up at her in surprise. The Slytherin table, while clearly used to her antics, seemed mildly alarmed at her boldness, especially when they saw the look of amused curiosity on Dumbledore's face.
"Did she just stand on the table?" Blaise muttered to Draco.
"Yes, Zabini," Carina said, overhearing. "I'm on the table because I have an important announcement." She pointed dramatically at the Hall. "Tonight, we're playing Musical Chairs—the wizard version."
There was a collective pause of confusion, particularly from the pureblood students.
"What in Merlin's name is musical chairs?" Draco drawled, crossing his arms with a look of disdain.
"Musical what?" Theo echoed from further down the Slytherin table, frowning.
"It's a Muggle game!" someone from the Ravenclaw table piped up, their voice tinged with excitement.
"Precisely!" Carina said, pointing at the Ravenclaw with a grin. "But don't worry, all you purebloods and skeptics of Muggle fun—we're adding a wizard twist."
"What wizard twist?" Hermione called from the Gryffindor table, already intrigued.
"Just wait and see!" Carina said, winking. "But here's the gist: everyone—yes, everyone—is going to play. My friend Lorenzo here is going to set up the room."
Lorenzo gives a small wave.
"The music starts, you walk around the chairs. When the music stops, you sit. No chair? You're out." Her smirk grew wicked. "The last person sitting wins."
"And if I don't want to play?" Draco asked coolly, crossing his arms.
Carina's grin widened. "You have no choice, Malfoy. Everyone plays, even you. Besides..." She turned to the professors' table, her voice ringing with mock seriousness, "the staff will be joining us as well."
