Chapter 21

Kyra pov

I glanced over to blue to check on her as we rode across the plains.

"stop it" an annoyed voice spoke I looked back over at blue

"did you say something?"

"yes, stop it"

"stop what?"

"keep looking at me, it like your heads on a spring!"

"well you did scare me when I saw you in the Drs office!"

"I'm fine" she snapped

something moved in the corner of my eye, causing me to stare but there was nothing there, I furrowed my eyebrows in annoyance and confusion. If your gonna move then make yourself known!

"Kyra... What's wrong?"

"nothing... Just thought I saw something"

"like what, I didn't see anything"

"I dunno. Looked dog like or something"

"ha! Your losing it Kyra!"

"thanks blue! Lets head back" She stuck her tongue out at me in response, cheeky bugger!

something moved again but I ignored it as we walked back to the huts, blue sat down in front of the tv whilst I walked into my room to find Carmen sprawled all over my bed, soon as she noticed me she launched herself at me, however I was expecting her to do her old tricks so did a side step causing her to fly out the door and land in the hallway spluttering from the collection of todays dust that engulfed her as she landed.

"Ha, missed!"

"not... Funny!" Carmen managed to say through fits of laughter and coughing

"so is!" I walked the few paces over to where she was sprawled "need a lift" I held my hand out to help her up "right now did you want something" I asked as she brushed herself off

"actually no! I don't but Levi wants to show blue the trails"

we walked over to blue sat with her legs crossed on the sofa, surprised that she hadn't come to see what all the commotion was about. "what ya watching b?"

"heartland" without taking her eyes off the screen

Carmen spoke out "Levi wants you

"who?" She asked with a voice full of questions as she paused the program

" her" she pointed out the open door to see a young girl leading a dark  bay and a spotted grey over to the cabin.

"guess ill watch this later then" blue huffed as she grabbed her hat and walked out the door.

I turned my attention back to Carmen "so what shall we do then?"

"well we could go in our own trail ride and meet blue and Levi in the middle if you want?"

"yeah ok then... Who would we use?"

"erm... We could use Valentino and Alaska? If you want?"

"yeah ok then , ill have Alaska !" I laughed

we wandered over to a more secluded part of the ranch with a larger sign looming above 'lone wolf ranch' we were greeted be a young stable hand

"could we have Valentino and Alaska please Reece?"

"yep, give me five and ill bring them over to you guys"

"thank you Reece"

we didn't have to wait long as Reece appeared with a deep chestnut quaterhorse and a light grey standardbred, it wasn't long before we were galloping across the fields with the forest creeping up really fast.

"Kyra id slow down if I was you" carmen half yelled half laughed. I eased Alaska back toba walk and Carmen soon joined me, we rode in silence taking in the breathtaking views and catching the odd glimpse of the plains when the trees thinned out.

there was a loud crack behind us which spooked our horses causing them to enter a full uncontrolable gallop

"Kyra pull back!" Carmen yelled at me in desperation

"I'm trying! He's too strong!" I looked back to see her getting smaller and smaller as the gap between us got bigger. Great I'm gonna get lost.

there was another noise to my right, hoping it might be Carmen I looked quickly but whatever it was jumped into the denser woods. I quickly looked round but it was too late, a low branch had caught me and pulled me off Alaska, I landed hard on my back only managed to see Alaska still galloping off into the distance before it all went black.
