another day. Another piss take. Argh! I didnt bother texting blue as I knew she wouldnt be up yet. Lazy git.

“kyra! Post!”

“coming mum!” lovely. Wait a second “its sunday! No one gets post on a sunday!” “just come down kyra!”

I moaned to myself as I swung my legs over the side of my single bed. I yawned carelessly and was greeted by something on my lap.

“hey jasper!” I scratched under his ear whilst he leant on my hand more, which then resorted to him leaning on me with his full body weight. He was a gorgeous saluki cross at about 1 year 6 months he was still in his prime, so to speak. We rescued him at 10 months and hes come such a way since, lets just say he is full of character. “come on then mr, wanna go out?!” his response was typical. A deafening bark. “thankyou!” I shouted over his now excited yaps.

On the kitchen side sat an official looking letter with ‘airmail’ stamped on the front. I twisted it through my fingers with a confused look on my face “airmail?” I spoke aloud, I looked up at my mum who just shrugged. I ripped the seal off the envelope being careful as to not damage the contents inside.

I pulled out a folded piece of line paper addressed ‘krya blackwater’, two plane tickets also fell out of the envelope I picked them back up off the side and studied them carefully:

kyra blackwater

“thats tommorow!” I shouted, I then realised I hadn’t read the lined piece of paper which I was still holding.

I handed the note to my mum who read it over and over “well I guess you better get packing” she said with a smile of dismissal

“but...” I argued

“go!”

“ill do it later, im going yard”

“what...”

“dunno, ill let you know” she didn’t respond as I had already left.

I perched myself on the top bar of the old metal gate which overlooked the grazing fields, it was where I always went when I needed to think and right now I had a lot to think about. I noticed keano starting to head over to me but took off as something behind me startled him.

“kyra..” serious voice. Serious tone equals a serious person.

I sighed heavily and muttered “what do you want lucas” “hmmm maybe I should consider my answer if your gonna put it that way” I groaned at his response. I turned around to see him casually leaning on the fallen tree behind me.

He stood there in plain dark jeans accompanied with a loose fitting ed hardy t-shirt, his choice of clothes never complimented his shaggy hairstlye and his hard brown eyes

“whatever it is make it quick I have a lot of things to do today” “ooo... haven’t you got brave” he mocked

“theres nothing to be brave about. Lucas” I dragged out the s for more of an effect, he raised his eyebrow in response

“now now, dont get cocky” he spoke with a smile growing on his smug face. I rolled my eyes purposely so he could see. He shook his head again and walked towards me “now...where were we?”

“you were just leaving” I said confidently as I pushed passed him, I felt his hand grab my arm causing me to swing round facing him.

“don’t be so rude kyra, I only just go here”

I heard the familiar rev of an engine behind me, I turned as far as I could to see an angry blue stepping out of her mothers subaru

“I think its time you left” she stormed over ripping me from his grasp as I brushed passed blue I wispered “keano” she nodded in response and I headed up to the yard.
