I stood at my desk, carefully going through the material i was to handle today in class. Slowly checking the time, I sipped my coffee then closed my laptop before my phone buzzed.
"I have class in a minute, what do you want?" I said when i picked up the phone.
"Have you seen what's on social media?" Aiden asked "You better check the link that I just sent you." He added then hung up.
I let out an annoyed sigh then proceeded to check what he was talking about. Had we been reckless this time round and a nosy reporter had seen the madness of the midnight lore? I tapped the link he sent me which redirected me to a website.
*Single star bachelor, Russian Tribbiani abandons girlfriend at the Gold tribute party to hang out with host, Viviane Gold....*
Below the bolded headlights was a collaged picture of me entering the party with Taitin on the right then me during the party with Viviane on the balcony.
"Thirsty bastards." I cursed switching off my phone, ignoring the false innuendo. Obviously it would be something like this, how could I even expect more from these humans.
Aiden was the one who worried about such things, I on the other hand didn't give a fuck what the media said about me. It was like they couldn't get off unless I was the topic on the news in some way. I just didn't understand why humans were this obsessed with gossip, they would literally make anything up just to get reads or followers.
I closed my briefcase and headed to class 21R-B. I arrived at the entrance and everyone fell silent in acknowledgment of my presence. My gaze fell upon Versaï who was seated at the front this time but she wasn't alone. Seated next to her, was Austin Towne who whispered something funny to her making her stifle her laughter as i walked towards the front desk. I didn't like this.
I placed my briefcase down while everyone settled quietly.
"Take your seat Mr Towne." I stared coldly at him
"I am seated." He riposted with a shrug
"Away from my class coordinator. I don't want you distracting her," I added before meeting her surprised face.
"With all due respect Professor, the only person distracting your coordinator here is you." He said earning a wave of gasps from his fellow students
"Why would you say that?" Versaï whispered, nudging him on the ribs and he jerked slightly.
I was silent for a moment staring at the audacity of this boy before coming around the table, slowly placing my hands in my pockets and walking to where he was seated.
"Are you trying to be funny, Mr Towne?" I glared at him angrily and he visibly grew uncomfortable. I watched him scratch the back of his neck awkwardly.
"I'm sorry, Professor. I wasn't trying to be disrespectful." He apologized
"Next time, think very carefully before you open your mouth." I warned then returned to where i had been standing initially.
When i turned, he was still seated next to Versaï so i pinned him with another look that gave him the hint to change his seat. Austin's face scrunched up in anger and embarrassment as he stood to go further up at the back of the class.
Finally, I met Versaï's gaze. She stared at me blankly probably wondering what all the fuss was about. I took this moment to take in the full view of her; her lips glistened with a mesmerizing shade of pink lipgloss that just made me want to grab her by the neck and kiss her until she couldn't breathe.
I sighed, averting her gaze as I realized how much i had missed her, even if it had just been a day. This was a mistake. I couldn't let myself get drawn to her like this, I couldn't let myself crave her the way that i did or think about all the things i could do to her.
