Minho groaned in mock frustration, trying to shoo Doongie off Jisung's lap while Soonie pawed at his shoulder and Dori curled up next to him, nuzzling for attention. "Seriously, guys? Let him breathe for five minutes," Minho grumbled, gently tugging at Soonie's tail to get her to stop clawing at Jisung's shirt.
Jisung only laughed, lightly scratching Doongie behind the ears. "It's fine, really. I like it. They're cute."
Minho gave him an exasperated look. "You say that now, but wait until Soonie tries to claw your hair or Doongie decides your lap is his personal bed for the next three hours."
Jisung shrugged, a playful glint in his eye. "I'm used to it. Besides, I already have a walking-talking cat who bothers me more than anything else."
Minho paused for a moment, confused. "What?"
Jisung's grin widened as he stared at him with a mischievous glint. Minho raised an eyebrow, processing what Jisung meant. "Wait. You mean—"
Jisung didn't need to say anything; the grin plastered on his face said it all. Minho rolled his eyes, completely unamused, but when he turned away, a small smile crept onto his face that he couldn't hide.
Jisung noticed immediately and let out a loud, hearty laugh. "See? Even you think it's funny!"
Minho was about to retort when suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Both of them froze mid-laugh, staring at each other.
"Did you call anyone?" Minho started, tilting his head toward the door.
"No," Jisung said, shaking his head. "I thought you invited someone over."
Minho frowned. "It's probably Felix." He said, shrugging it off.
Jisung raised an eyebrow. "I thought you had someone coming over. I didn't invite anyone."
Now visibly confused, Minho set Dori down and quickly made his way to the door. His mind was racing as he unlocked it. Who could be at the door?
He glanced back at Jisung, whose expression mirrored his own uncertainty. Minho then opened the door, bracing himself for whatever—or whoever—was on the other side.
Jisung watched as Minho opened the door, his curiosity piqued. But what surprised him was Minho's sudden change in demeanor—he quickly bowed and broke into a wide, respectful smile. On the other side stood a man who looked older, possibly in his late fifties, with an air of importance. His posture was sharp, and his presence commanded respect. It was clear he wasn't just any visitor.
Minho and the man exchanged a few words, their conversation seeming serious, though Minho kept nodding along, likely answering questions. The man's voice was calm but carried weight, the kind that comes with experience and authority. Jisung could only watch as they continued to talk, the older man eventually handing Minho a file, and Minho accepting it with another deep bow.
When the man smiled and left, Minho closed the door behind him, watching the man walk away for a moment before his expression shifted into one of pure joy. Jisung saw the change instantly—Minho's face lit up, and his eyes sparkled with excitement.
Unable to hold back his own excitement, Jisung quickly ran up to Minho. "What happened? Tell me, tell me!" he asked, almost bouncing on the spot. He could see how happy Minho was and wanted to celebrate with him.
Minho turned to Jisung, barely able to contain his excitement. "You won't believe it," he began, his words rushing out. "That was someone super important in the engineering field! He came to visit my university earlier, and he wasn't too happy about me joining a bit late." Minho's smile wavered briefly, but then it returned full force. "But my past grades were solid, and I've been keeping up, so he let it slide."
Jisung nodded, hanging onto every word.
Minho's grin widened even more. "The exams I just did? I crushed them. But that's not all! I pitched this new idea during one of my classes. It's an efficient, eco-friendly energy grid that's built to be self-sustaining, relying on minimal external resources while using renewable energy. The idea caught their attention, and now they think it has real potential! If things go well...they might actually make it happen."
Jisung's eyes widened in pure amazement. "Minho, that's incredible!" He couldn't help himself and immediately pulled Minho into a tight hug. "I'm so proud of you! That's such a huge deal!"
Minho laughed, hugging him back. "I can't believe it either. I mean, this is huge!"
"I knew you were smart, but wow, this is next level," Jisung said, pulling back slightly just to look at Minho, his eyes glowing with admiration. "You're actually going to make a difference, Minho. This is insane!"
Minho's smile softened at Jisung's words. "Thanks, Jisung. It means a lot coming from you."
Jisung grinned back, his chest swelling with pride. He wanted to congratulate Minho in every possible way, shower him with praise for how amazing he was.
