Three days before the bar exam, the pressure in the air was palpable. Jisung sat in the living room, surrounded by textbooks, highlighters, and sticky notes scattered across the table. His head felt heavy from the weight of everything he had to memorize. Thankfully, Minho was home that day, providing silent comfort. Just his presence made Jisung feel a little less overwhelmed, even if Minho was sitting across the room, reading quietly or glancing at Jisung with subtle concern.
Minho could sense how close Jisung was to breaking down. He watched him from afar, observing the way Jisung's hand gripped his pen a little too tightly, the way his brow furrowed deeply in concentration. But Minho knew better than to interrupt — Jisung was in deep study mode, and pulling him out of that would only make him more anxious.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang, cutting through the tense silence. Jisung barely registered the sound, his eyes glued to the notes in front of him. Minho stood up, glancing over at Jisung who just nodded absently, too focused on his studies to pay much attention to anything else.
"I'll get it," Minho said softly, though Jisung didn't really respond.
Minho walked over to the door and opened it, not expecting much. But when the door swung open, he blinked in surprise.
Standing there, a familiar blonde boy with his usual bright grin, was none other than Felix.
Minho raised an eyebrow. "Felix?"
Felix smiled sweetly. "Hi, hyung. Can I come in?"
Minho rolled his eyes, correcting him with a teasing tone. "It's 'may I,' you dumbshit."
Felix whined, his pout exaggerated. "Hyung, it's the same thing!"
Minho chuckled, feeling some of his own tension ease at Felix's playful presence. "What are you doing here?"
"I'm here to see my best friend," Felix replied, his tone soft but full of fondness.
Minho's expression shifted, a knowing smile tugging at his lips. He knew how much Jisung loved Felix, how their bond was unbreakable no matter what. It was probably the exact visit Jisung needed, even if he didn't realize it yet.
"Alright, come on in," Minho said, stepping aside.
Felix stepped in, but not before Minho peeked his head into the living room and called out, "Jisung, you have a visitor."
Jisung looked up from his books, blinking in confusion before his eyes landed on Felix standing in the hallway. His face instantly lit up with excitement.
"Jisung!" Felix yelled, running up to Jisung with perhaps too much excitement. But for someone like Felix, this was very normal compared to how excited he could truly get.
"Felix!" Jisung exclaimed, practically throwing his pen down and scrambling out of his seat. He rushed towards Felix, his exhaustion forgotten in an instant.
Felix opened his arms wide, catching Jisung in a tight embrace. "I missed you!" Felix said, squeezing Jisung as if it had been months since they last saw each other.
Jisung laughed, burying his face into Felix's shoulder. "I missed you more."
The two best friends stood there in the hallway, wrapped in each other's arms, as if the weight of the world had been lifted from Jisung's shoulders. For a moment, everything else faded away—no bar exam stress, no worries—just Felix's comforting presence.
Minho, leaning against the doorway with a soft smile, watched them with quiet amusement. Felix always had a way of making Jisung feel better without even trying.
After a long hug, Felix pulled back slightly, still holding onto Jisung's shoulders as he looked him up and down. "You've been studying too hard, haven't you?"
Jisung gave a sheepish smile. "Yeah, the bar exam is coming up soon. I've been trying not to stress too much, but..."
Felix shook his head. "No, no, no, you're gonna do great. You always do! You're literally the smartest person I know, Jisung."
Jisung felt a swell of warmth at Felix's words, and he let out a breath he didn't even realize he'd been holding.
"Come on," Felix said, pulling Jisung toward the couch. "Let's sit for a minute. You need a break."
Jisung hesitated, glancing back at his study materials. "I really shouldn't..."
Felix pouted, tugging him down onto the couch. "Just a few minutes, I promise. Pleaaase?"
Jisung relented, sinking into the cushions beside Felix, and for the first time in hours, he allowed himself to relax. Nobody could resist Felix, damn. Minho walked over, crossing his arms with a knowing look.
"I guess you're off the hook for now, but don't think Felix can save you for long. You still have studying to do," Minho teased, though his tone was light and playful.
Felix grinned at Minho, giving a little salute. "Don't worry, hyung, I've got it under control!"
Minho chuckled, shaking his head as he watched Jisung settle down with Felix. Maybe this little break was exactly what Jisung needed to push through the final days before the exam. With Felix's energy and Minho's steady presence, Jisung might just make it after all.
