Jisung was sitting at the dining table, surrounded by an ocean of papers and case studies. His laptop emitted a soft glow as he scanned through yet another legal text, fingers tapping nervously on the keys. The past few days had been brutal. Two weeks left before the bar exam, and it felt like the weight of the world was resting on his shoulders. His chest tightened as if his anxiety had become a constant companion.
Across the room, Minho was standing quietly by the doorframe, leaning against it as he observed Jisung from a distance. The way Jisung's shoulders hunched, the deep sighs he kept exhaling, the occasional frustrated muttering to himself—it broke Minho's heart to see how much pressure he was under.
For a moment, Minho stood there, deep in thought, chewing on the inside of his cheek. Then, suddenly, something seemed to click in his mind. His eyes widened, and he straightened up quickly.
"That's it!" Minho exclaimed aloud, startling Jisung from his intense focus.
Jisung jumped slightly, whipping his head around to look at Minho. "What's it?" he asked, his brows furrowed in confusion.
Before Minho could respond, Jisung stood and approached him, his concern for Minho momentarily pushing his own stress aside. Without thinking, he came up behind Minho and placed his hands on his shoulders, giving them a gentle squeeze. Minho inhaled deeply, feeling the tension in his muscles unwind just a little from Jisung's touch.
"Calm down," Jisung said softly, his thumbs massaging Minho's stiff shoulders. "What's going on?"
Minho exhaled slowly, closing his eyes for a brief moment, allowing Jisung's touch to soothe him. He tilted his head back slightly, looking at Jisung with a small smile. "I'm going out for a bit," he announced, as though he'd just come to a life-changing realization.
Jisung's hands stilled on Minho's shoulders, and his confusion deepened. "Wait, what? Where are you going?"
"Don't worry," Minho chuckled, turning around to face Jisung. He reached up, gently grasping Jisung's wrist before leaning forward and pressing a soft kiss to his forehead. The unexpected gesture left Jisung blinking in surprise, his heart doing an odd little flip in his chest.
Minho grinned, clearly enjoying Jisung's flustered reaction. "I'll be back soon," he said, giving Jisung one more reassuring look before stepping away and heading for the door.
"W-wait, Minho! What was that?" Jisung called after him, still trying to process the forehead kiss. He stood there frozen, watching as Minho slipped on his shoes and grabbed his keys.
Minho only waved over his shoulder, calling back, "You'll see when I get back!"
And just like that, the door clicked shut behind him, leaving Jisung standing in the middle of the living room, a bit stunned by the sudden turn of events. His heart raced, not from stress this time, but from the unexpected warmth lingering on his forehead. His fingers absentmindedly touched the spot where Minho had kissed him, his mind swirling with a thousand thoughts.
"What the hell...?" he mumbled to himself, shaking his head with a soft laugh.
Whatever Minho was planning, Jisung figured he would find out soon enough. For now, he decided to get back to his notes, though it was hard to focus with the echo of Minho's kiss still fresh on his mind. A tiny smile played on his lips as he sat down again, feeling just a little lighter, even if he had no idea what Minho was up to.
It had been nearly an hour since Minho left, and Jisung was still sitting at the table, pretending to revise his notes. But in reality, his mind kept wandering back to that sudden forehead kiss, and whatever Minho was plotting.
As he stared blankly at his laptop screen, he suddenly heard the unmistakable sound of the door unlocking, followed by a series of thuds and dragging noises. Jisung perked up, quickly turning around to see Minho stepping through the door—dragging a mountain of suitcases behind him.
"Minho?!" Jisung gasped, standing up abruptly. His eyes widened at the sheer number of suitcases, completely baffled by the scene before him.
The cats seemed just as surprised, immediately trotting up to sniff the luggage with cautious curiosity. Soonie circled the suitcases, his tail flicking, while Doongie and Dori approached more cautiously, noses twitching as they investigated the unfamiliar items.
Minho, visibly out of breath, dragged the last suitcase inside before pausing at the entrance, holding two large boxes in his hands. He gave a tired, yet triumphant smile as he slid the final suitcase against the wall and stepped into the room.
"What the...Minho, what's all this?" Jisung asked, bewildered, walking over as Minho leaned against the doorframe to catch his breath.
Minho panted for a few seconds, waving his hand as if to tell Jisung to give him a moment. Once he could finally speak again, he grinned, brushing his hair away from his face. "This...," he gestured to the suitcases and boxes around them, "is all of your stuff from your old place."
Jisung blinked, completely taken aback. "Wait—what? My stuff? H-how did you even—" His words faltered, his surprise growing by the second. He looked at the piles of belongings in disbelief, then back at Minho. "How did you find out about all this?"
Minho set the boxes down with a soft thud and wiped the sweat from his forehead. "I have my ways," he teased, smirking mischievously. "I called up your landlord, explained the situation, and voila—everything is here."
Jisung's mouth hung open, still processing everything. "But...why?" he finally asked, a smile starting to creep onto his face despite his confusion.
Minho stepped closer, shrugging nonchalantly, though the grin on his face gave away his real emotions. "Because," he said, "you're now officially moving in with me. Whether you like it or not."
Jisung's eyes widened as Minho's words fully sank in. He felt a rush of warmth flood his chest, his heart pounding with a mixture of surprise and pure, unfiltered joy. "W-what...?" he whispered, his voice barely audible as the realization hit him. "I'm moving in? For real?"
Minho nodded, smiling softly. "Yes, Jisung. You're staying with me forever. No more going back to that old place. I want you here—with me."
That was all it took. Without a second thought, Jisung practically launched himself at Minho, his arms wrapping tightly around him as he buried his face into Minho's chest. Minho staggered back slightly, letting out a breathless laugh as he caught Jisung mid-leap, his arms instinctively wrapping around him in return.
"You have no idea how happy this makes me," Jisung mumbled into Minho's shirt, his voice muffled but filled with emotion. He held on to Minho as if he never wanted to let go, his heart soaring with an overwhelming sense of relief and happiness. "I don't want to be anywhere else."
Minho chuckled softly, tightening his grip around Jisung's waist. "I had a feeling you'd be okay with it," he said, his voice warm and teasing.
Jisung pulled back just enough to look up at Minho, his eyes sparkling with gratitude and affection. "Okay with it? I've never been happier in my life, oh my god."
Minho smiled down at him, brushing a strand of hair away from Jisung's forehead. "Good. Because I'm not letting you go," he murmured softly, his gaze steady and filled with affection.
Jisung grinned, resting his forehead against Minho's, their noses almost touching. "I wouldn't want you to."
As they stood there, locked in each other's embrace, the moment felt like the beginning of something new—something wonderful. Jisung had never felt so at peace, so at home. And it wasn't just because of the suitcases and belongings surrounding them—it was because of Minho.
Together, they could face anything.
"Welcome home," Minho whispered, his voice barely above a whisper.
"Home," Jisung echoed softly, smiling to himself. "Yeah...That sounds nice."
The cats, sensing the peaceful moment, weaved themselves around their legs, meowing softly as if they, too, were welcoming Jisung into this new chapter of his life.
Jisung couldn't help but laugh. This—this was exactly where he was meant to be.
