The red sky cleared only a little bit as Monday rolled around. The weekend went by too quickly for George's liking. His family was considering not allowing him to go to school. They weren't the only ones concerned for their safety. Many families were worried about sending their children off to school. Some were hoping that the school would email them that it was canceled.

On Sunday morning, the news talked about how the smoke had cleared up, and it was safe enough for some people to walk outside. Suspiciously, there was no news from the school about it being closed for the next few days. It was until it reached 4pm that the school had finally emailed the teacher and students that school was still going on on Monday.

The kids were annoyed for a different reason. Students obviously didn't want to go to school, mainly because of homework and tests getting more frequently passed out. They felt like they needed a small break from all of it.

It didn't feel as bad as George thought when walking into the school. He was able to breathe without feeling any smoke or discomfort coming into his lungs. He did feel bad for the people with asthma though.

None of the other three were on any of his group chats. So he was really curious to hear what their thoughts on the whole situation was.

As he entered his second period after his Language Arts class he immediately heard Rayne ask, "Please tell me I'm not the only one who sees that the sky is red instead of its normal blue?"

"Nope, you're definitely not the only one." Vincent deadpanned.

"Why is this happening anyway?" Lily asked.

"We don't know." Mrs. Clemonte answered, holding open a history textbook in her hands while Mrs. Melantha was flipping through pages of another textbook on the back table. If George had to ask how the teachers looked, he would say that they just looked stressed.

She sighed, defeated. "We are just as confused as you guys."

"How?" Vincent argued. "I thought you guys would have known lots of possibilities for the sky color changing?"

Mrs. Clemonte set her book on the same table as Mrs. Melantha. "That's the thing, Vincent. We know that there are lots of possibilities for the sudden change, but they all seem so...abnormal." How are those possibilities abnormal? The group has magic powers!

Rayne then stood up and offered, "Well, why don't we help? It could be a good first experience dipping into Guardian history." George rolled his eyes, at the "star student attitude" Rayne always had. He did assume he wasn't the only one to feel like that. Vincent was non chalantly frowning as he slouching in his seat.

"Awww, do we have to?" He complained.

Mrs. Melantha closed her book and walked over to the small shelves by the windows for another. "If you want to know what the heck is causing all of this, your help would be pretty beneficial."

When she put it in that way, it didn't take the students a second before they had their heads deep in textbooks. There were titles that said, "World History" and "Ancient Civilizations". None of the text provided any history of the topics.

The kids learned that the Guardians weren't supposed to be on Earth to begin with. Originally, the Guardians protected the highest ranking of the magic based kingdoms, Avaloria. No wonder they were called "Guardians." They were magic beings born into families that served to protect the magic kingdoms. When some didn't want to protect, they aimed to achieve other goals, but most couldn't wait to serve.

The reason they were on Earth now was because of a time traveler Guardian, Kaia Greenborn. She was a massive fan of history and never got enough of it. When reading about the different kingdoms and planets, Kaia stumbled upon Earth, and found it interesting, even more than the other magical places. Unfortunately, there wasn't much information about it. All she kept seeing is how Earth is just completely different from the rest.
