110 years in the past...
There wasn't much time.
Amber knew the Mutants were coming. The entire kingdom knew.
What could she do? Would her family be safe? Would her kingdom be safe? Would even she be safe?
She didn't know. There was barely any information about the Mutants.
Amber rushed down a corridor, one she used to trot through happily as a dragonet.
Those happy days were over.
Everything would be over if she didn't hurry.
She ran as quickly as she could, wishing slightly that she had more legs to carry her farther. Maybe being a SpotWing would be more convenient.
Come to think of it, the SpotWings, ironically, were the first kingdom to be attacked.
Amber should her head. Not now.
She ran, finally finding her room. She slammed the door behind her, looking around at her large dormitory. There, before her, on her large desk, were her papers.
As she panted, Amber grabbed a pouch, a scroll tie, and a cloak. She grabbed her papers, rolling them up into scroll form, and tied them together. She placed her scrolls in her pouch, draping the pouch over her shoulder. Then, she put on her cloak.
Amber quietly walked out of her room, hoping there were no mutants nearby. She sighed of relief, seeing none. But she could definitely hear screams and roars.
She inhaled deeply, running out of the palace. She then looked around to the dangerous crowds before her. There were Mutants. A lot of them. FeatherWings struggled to fight them, some falling dead, some being bitten, some being sprayed on by acid, and some already dead on the floor.
Amber held back tears as she glanced at the terror, then ran. She ran as fast as she could, not taking the brave risk of flying, and being spotted easier. She ran the way of the river, which would lead her to a dock. There, she could travel to the Cortex Marshes, and hopefully seek shelter.
After what felt like hours of running, Amber's stamina faded, and she stopped running. She panted heavily, collapsing by the river. She looked into the glistening water, seeing her cloaked reflection.
How could she leave her tribe to die like that?
Normally, Amber was loyal. Under any other circumstance, she would've stayed to die protecting her tribe.
But this was the Mutant Takeover. This was Doomsday. This was a sign from the Gods that Pronota was going to die. This was the Revelation.
Amber knew her karma would return. But she also knew that she was a messenger. Ever since her birth, Amber was seen as the dragon meant to aid in continental knowledge. So she dedicated her entire life to just that. She published scrolls that had all kinds of knowledge from all of the tribes. She traveled all over Pronota to study the tribes. She even attended political meetings to help create mutual peace with all of the tribes.
Now, Amber's job was to research the Mutants, and hopefully find a research camp in one of the kingdoms to help develop a cure.
At least, she thought that was what she was supposed to do.
Nevertheless, Amber knew she had a reason to betray her tribe. But that didn't stop from guilt seeping in.
She sighed, getting up. This was going to be a tough journey, but it would be worth it.
Whether they knew it or not, Amber was going to save everyone on Pronota.
