We all agreed to go to the mall before school to get the headset. Pedro, Harper and Seth were so obsessed with the headset, they made a video in the car on our way to school.

"We should also do a dance video with it." Mia suggested to Kelly and I.

"But Alvin won't be in it. He told mom that he is joining Fiona  uncle's yacht party."

"Plus the rumors, they are getting out of hand." She showed us a post. They were comparing Fiona and I. Our style and dance skills.

"That's crazily absurd." Mia was short of words. "You guys are two totally different people."

Yeah. Fiona was a Goddess and I was a  ESS. What is wrong with these folks?

I got to my locker and luckily met Drake. He was took his mints and parked his hair before shutting his locker. I loved the smile on his face when he finally noticed me.

"How are you doing gal?" He leaned on his locker awaiting my response. I admired the way he looked like a Zara model.

"Heya!" I sounded very awkward. I was planning to say hello but found myself saying hey then it ended with a "aaaa.."

"You look really nice with the headset on."

"Thanks. Why didn't you get yourself a headset?" I asked sweetly.

" Because I prefer ear buds. I always have them on one ear."  He turned unknowingly flexing his jawline. Jeez, I had a huge crush on this dude.

" Oh! Wow. I just noticed it. It's your skin color. You love music?" We walked down the hallway together.

" Yes! I do." He paused to check his phone notification.

" What's your social media handle ?"

"I am not allowed to create any social account. I just view with the web version."

"What? You live in the 80s or something?"

"No! If you ever noticed, Melanie doesn't. It's just Melodie and momma." He shrugged. Just then I remembered what Melanie said.

"That reminds me. I wanted a picture of you guys and Mel said."

"We are not allowed to be in the same portrait especially during an outing. We are not allowed to post pictures of us together." He explained as we settled down in class.

That was just crazy.

"Why?"

"Because,.. he whispered. I'm her half brother. Momma doesn't want to ruin the reputation." He shrugged. I was dumbstruck by his reply.

Questions were popping up but I hadn't digested that one yet.

"My mom was her dad's baby mama... I think I am leaking out too much for you to handle." He whispered with a soft smile.

" That's f**ked up." Those were the only words my lips could utter before our tutor walked in.

During lunch, I sat with him and Melanie and Melodie waiting for my bros to complete their various tasks.

"Something happened yesterday." Melodie finally started a conversation. We had been eating in silence. My appetite wasn't really it.

"Fiona pulled an upsetting stunt." Our eyes were fixed on her listening to her every word. "She is now the choreography organiser. But you both are to assist her. She's now like the supervisor of the choreography stuff... She used your health and suspension against you guys..."

I totally forgot I had to organise choreography. "That's... Very thoughtful. I hated it anyways." Melanie scoffed.

"She has finally dominated Daysman. Is Alvin so blind that he can't see that he is being used? They aren't even meant for each other." We glanced to their table then back to her.

"Well, thank goodness she did." Melanie scoffed.

"It is not yet official. The staffs are still weighing it. But we obviously know the outcome." She was the school's president, if she obliged, then students would vote.

But with Fiona's charm on Alvin and goddessness on everyone, she was going to get it. And when she does, she would have us exactly where she wants us.

Under her control. Obeying her every word.

"Great! 12th grade sucks." I dropped my cutlery and loosened my tie a little.

Alvin, Pedro and Seth and Mia and Kelly were in the meeting byt no one cared to mention.

Yeah ! They were not sure if telling me was necessary anyways.

On our way home, I said nothing to anyone, didn't stop by at our dorm or anything. I just dropped at my house.

I just didn't want to speak to anyone. I felt disconnected from everyone.

My mum's room and my favorite jacket was my solace at that moment.

My headset on my ear, a gum in my mouth and a book to read.

I was done with the book. I glanced at the book shaped clock in the room.

11:47 pm.

Wow! Time flies really fast. I didn't want to go online because of the frenzy and didn't feel like returning any of my missed calls or answer the door when I heard a knock.

Just alone in my world. Me and my book.

I wasn't feeling sleepy so I decided to go through my mom's library. She had lots of books and journals. I inherited her book reading habit.

I went through the books and novels and journals, surfing through their pages. The tears flowing down my cheeks felt like a usual thing.

Reminiscing my moments with her; our book shop touring habits, our book buying habits, the day when we met MJ Sanchez. The day Shalompens signed her favorite book "she conquered."

Our first red carpet event, our first movie premium. Our first vacation after her marriage.

Sweet memories.

I saw a manuscript. A journal my mum wished to publish.

Then right behind it was her diary. It looked so old and wrinkled. The diary she had in highschool.

My mum said she had a very rough past. She never gave me details about her highschool life.

I sat on the floor staring at it. My mom's story. I might even get the information I always wanted but cared much more about her breaking down.

The name of my Father would be in the book I am holding.

My mum's past.
