I landed with a loud thump on the ground, but no sooner had I landed than I started sprinting. I knew that around 9:00 PM Flavrin was gonna check the rooms and find I wasn't there. It was already 8:56 PM and she was always on time.

"Gotta get away," I said between heavy breaths. I finally slowed after I found an abandoned gas station, and decided that since I was now a good 10 away it would be pretty safe.

I slung my bag over my shoulder and walked through the old creaky doors and found a nice spot behind the front desk. I laid my sleeping bag on the floor and checked the time on my watch.

It was 10:38 PM and I knew that Miss Flavrin would be looking for me in the morning. I snuggled down into my sleeping bag and slowly began to drift off to sleep.

When I woke up and could see more clearly, I realized that there was still some snacks and stuff left over from before the place closed. I looked around and found a pack of nutty bars, two bags of potato chips, a pack of mini chocolate chip cookies, and some hot fries. Everything was still in pretty good condition, so I put it in my bag.

I left my stuff in the gas station and walked outside, but the only thing there was a long road. I walked back over to my pack, sat down on my sleeping bag, and read some of my books till nightfall.

When it started getting dark, I got in my sleeping bag and fell asleep. I was woken up by a creaking noise. I looked at my watch and it was 6:43 AM, and I knew that that the noise was not from an animal. Then it hit me.

Someone else was in the gas station.
