Later that night after my parents have calmed down and have gone to bed, I get out of my bed and start packing to leave this house. I grab a piece of paper and leave a note for my parents on my new bedside table, reading:

Dear mom and dad,
I love you and all but I can't stay here anymore...for one thing YOU KICKED MY BOYFRIEND OUT, LIKE WHAT THE HECK! And two, you missed SO much in my life. You missed my first birthday, and my tenth, and sixteenth!

I mean, I've made best friends with an orphan,my boyfriend WAS a criminal, I mean, you deserve better. Anyways, I'm leaving, but you should adopt these two girls at my old orphanage Clare and Nancy, they would LOVE you.

Bye, Zoey.

I place the note on the dresser, grab my backpack, sneak downstairs, and head outside. I realize I have no idea where Austin is until I look down the sidewalk and see him pacing back and forth.

I run (favoring my cast) over to him and hug him, the force almost knocking him to the ground.

"Took you long enough," he says, laughing but I punch him in the arm to shut him up.

"Wait, how did you know I would abandon my new family just because of you?" I ask a little annoyed.

"Because I know you and you don't like to be controlled," he says plainly and starts walking over to his car. I follow him and get in the shotgun but before he starts the car, I grab his hand.

"Forever?" I say like a question and he squeezes my hand.

"Forever," he replies and we take off into the night.
