I chose this song cause of the lyrics. It felt so fitting for this chapter.

Let me be your superhero, your dynamight.

Let me be the one to hold you.

To do you right.

Bakugo POV:

Each beat in my chest thundered throughout my body. The weight of the scene before me wrapping around my core like a string of thorns.

I reached out, and our fingers were just inches away. His pale skin, an unhealthy contrast against mine, trembling as he weakly reached for me.

But no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get any closer. There's an invisible wall separating us. He drifted further away while I could do nothing but watch.

My hand collides with the wall before me, a crack now splintering across the surface. I punched at the force repeatedly before it shattered, allowing me to step through.

Sparing no time, I lunged forward and reached out for his freckled arm once again. This time, we connected. My knuckles turned white due to the grip I had on his wrist. I pulled closer to him, trying to pry the inferior grasp off of him.

Seconds before I could bring him back to me, we were inveloped in a black smoke. A sudden gust of wind whipped past us, stinging my eyes. The world blurred in a deafening silence. I felt a tug from him as he looked at me with tears pricking at the corners of his eyes.

"Please... don't let go." He whispered shakily, his voice cracking.

His touch is unnaturally cold. It's like grabbing onto a ghost or an icy memory that I've pushed to the back of my mind.

Every second feels stretched, as if this moment is deliberately trying to torture me. It may as well have.

My grip tightened on his arm, and just as I finally was able to shake the other grip on him off, he disappeared before my eyes.

"You failed. You always have." Deku's voice echoed.

I collapsed on my knees. I stared at my hands that once held his. My heart pounded with the weight of guilt. The darkness grows like a suffocating fog when his voice rang out again.

"You ran when I needed you the most."

"I didn't run. I- I just froze." I said quietly, hoping he didn't hear me.

"You were never strong enough, were you, Kacchan?" Venom seethed from his words.

"I-"

"We were supposed to be heroes together. Don't you remember that promise we made? You broke it." The fear that once lingered in his voice was gone. Now nothing, but bitterness surrounded it.

"Y'know, it was all your fault." He growled in a tone I've never heard come from him.

I jolted awake. My body was shaking. It was just a dream. It was just a dream.

I knew it wasn't real, but it hurt so much. Is this how he actually feels? I rocked back and forth on my bed. I was lost in thought when I heard a knock on my door.

"If pink cheeks or four eyes, fuck off." I called out, trying to maintain my tone.

Kirishima opened the door hesitantly.

"Hey Bakubro, I wanted to see if you were alright."

I glared at him, hoping that would be enough to shake him off the question.

"I know that the USJ situation took a toll on everyone. I heard you talking, and I wanted to make sure you're ok."

"I'm fine, shitty hair." I growled at him.
