Chapter 1:
Eleanora:
My mother and father had called me downstairs to let me know that my taxi was ready to pick me up to take me to the airport
"Coming Mama!" I yelled gently from upstairs as I sat on my last suitcase to shut it closed.
I ran down the stairs carrying the suitcase in my left arm where my Mama and Papa greeted me at the bottom of the stairs.
"My darling you look beautiful" my mother said whilst looking at me with pure love in her eyes, even though I was wearing beige trousers and a black top with a belt - nothing fancy
"Thank you Mama"
"Ik zal je missen" my Papa said as I shifted my eye contact onto him.
My father didn't speak much English but he said that, he will miss me.
It was the first time I would be moving far away from them, but they both knew I would be in safe hands, plus they had already gone through this before.
"Give Vivianne a big hug from us" My mama said as she pulled me in for a final hug
"I will Mama"
"En een kus van mij" "and a kiss from me"
My papa said butting in and joining the hug
"Right I better get going" I said giving them both a kiss on the cheek "ik hou van jullie allebei" "I love you both"
I then turned around and opened the door and took a step out and turned around one last time and blew them both a kiss. My dad was trying to not let the tears run down his cheeks but they were all ready running.
It broke my heart to be leaving them but they knew as much as I did that this needed to happen to better my career. I knew they would be fine after a while as when Viv left they then found so much joy and pride watching her on the TV - it took a while for them to understand how to get to the right channel but when they did they were watching her everytime she played, and I would join them if I wasn't training or playing my self.If you hadn't already guessed it, I am Fleur Evangelina Marina Astrid Miedema or I go by Eleanora or Ellie for short, I am Vivianne Miedema's sister.
Yes mine and Viv's names are confusing, it's just how our parents decided to do it. Her name is Anna but our mother called her Vivianne and my name is Fleur but I was called Eleanora.
Viv and I hated our names growing up especially at school as all of the teachers took time getting used to how our names weren't actually our names, but when I say it like that I can see why they get confused. It ended quite quickly though as Viv and I weren't in school often as we were both in football academies.Viv and I have always played football and for a while we played on the same team. She was called up for the Dutch international team when she was 14, I was 10 at the time and still playing for the same academy as Viv was although she left sometimes to play internationally, I was later called up for the Dutch International team when I was 17.
In 2014 when Viv was 18 she signed for Bayern Munich, I was 14 at the time and I stayed with my parents playing for SC Heerenveen the team that Viv had just left.It was hard on the whole family when Viv left at such a young age but we were all so excited for her and loved our daily calls with her, even if we enjoyed them more that she did. Although i was only 14 watching my older sister go and move country to play for a football team gave me more desire and passion to want to do the same.
Just before Viv was 21 she signed for Arsenal, I was so proud of my older sister as were my parents, that at 21 she had moved to Germany and then to the UK to play, as well as carrying on International duties. Which was great as she would come back home and see us, we still didn't play for the Dutch national team together as I was still 17.
My parents decided that they wanted me to succeed in the same way as Viv, they were never pushy though, they kept telling me that I would get there in my own time and my own way.
The same year Viv signed for Arsenal, I was turning 18 and when I turned 18 I signed for Ajax, and went on the win Trophies with that Club. I was also called up to play for the U23 Dutch national team at 18 and I am still playing in that team today and waiting for my Senior call up.Now at 23 nearly 24 I have been signed by Arsenal, the same team that Viv plays for.
I haven't seen Viv in over a year the last time I saw her was when she came over for Christmas and introduced the family to her girlfriend Beth Mead.
When my mother and father found out I was leaving for Arsenal they were heartbroken but proud. My Papa always told me "je tijd zal komen, superster" "your time will come, superstar"
I knew they both were so excited to be able sit down in their evenings and watch Viv and I play for the same team again, just like we did when we were little.——————
