Chapter 2:
Eleanora:
The flight was only short but perfect for a short nap. I lay my head against the window of the plane and gently drifted off thinking about all the opportunities that were awaiting me in this new chapter of my life.
An hour and a half later the plane landed and I quickly rushed to the security and bag collection to grab my bags. I had around 3 bags which is not bad considering I was moving countries.
Viv and Beth had kindly agreed to pick me up from the airport and let me stay in their apartment until I found an apartment to move into.
Luckily my mother made sure I learned English after Viv moved to England as she always told me she had a feeling I would be their one day too and that life will be easier if I can speak another language so that's what we did together.
I was already grateful for that as I could read the majority of airport signs with out an issue. I can just imagine 21 year old Viv wandering through this airport with little to no clue what any of these signs mean. Although she was pretty lucky to meet her girlfriend at the time Lisa, in Bayern Munich where they both played there and then moved to Arsenal, who taught her most of the English she knows although a lot of her words are now said with a slight Scottish accent, which I know Beth - her current girlfriend, loves very much.
Anyway enough of that.
I walked through the last set of doors to see Viv and Beth standing there waiting for me. I was so excited to see Viv, that I left my trolley full of bags in the middle of the pathway where everyone walked and gave her a big hug.
"Leuk je te zien!" "nice to see you!" I said squeezing her hard.
I was definitely the more affectionate sister I loved a hug whereas Viv was always so chill about life and just put up with my hugs.
I also gave her a quick kiss on the cheek like our Papa has asked me to do
"From Papa" I saidBeth then wandered over pushing the trolley after saving all my bags from being stolen.
"Nice to see you again Ellie" Beth said pulling me into a hug
"You too and thank you for picking me up and letting me stay with you and Vivi"
"Of course, anytime" she said with a nice friendly smile
We all got in their car it was a tight squeeze with all of my bags but it was manageable for the 40 minute drive from Heathrow to St Albans.
"So are you excited to be signing for Arsenal?" Beth asked me looking at me in the rear view mirror whilst also keeping her eyes on the road
"Yes I am really excited, I never thought I would be moving countries to play football so it like a - droom die uitkomt, I don't know how to say in English"
"A dream come true" Viv added
"Well everyone is excited to meet you, and I must say your English is so much better from when I first met you!" Beth added
"Thank you, it's still a work in progress but i understand most things now! Just get stuck on the odd occasion"We arrived at their apartment block they were on the 11th floor luckily there was an elevator so we each took a suitcase and headed upstairs.
"Right here we are" Beth said getting the key out her pocket and unlocking the door.
I followed Beth and Viv inside before shutting the door behind me. When a very friendly energetic spaniel came running up to me "Myle!!" I said, "I have seen lots of pictures and videos of you" I said in my puppy voice receiving a number of kisses on the cheek.
"Viv would you like to show your sister to her room" Beth said to Viv basically telling her
"If I must" Viv said rolling her eyes in a playful way as I nudged her slightly
I followed Viv down a short corridor and was met with a nice small box shaped room with a double bed, a wardrobe and a small desk.
"Dank je wel Vivi" "thank you Vivi" I said as she placed the other two suitcases in the free corner of the room.
"No worries El, if you need anything let me or Beth know"
" I will thank you!"
"I'm proud of you Ellie, I really am" Viv said in a very meaningful way
"Awww has Beth turned you all nice and soft" I said teasing her
"No, i just wanted to be nice" she said, bluntly
"I knew you were one big teddy bear under all that 'I hate life attitude' " I said giving her a big hug"BETH!! I already don't like it" Viv shouted sounding very Scottish, as I hugged her
"What!" Beth said from the kitchen
"Her staying her" Viv groaned as I finally let go and she wandered out of my room to probably going and complain to Beth although I knew she secretly liked me being here as we have always been close.
"And I already don't like how Scottish you sound" I said loud enough so the sound would travel down the corridor
"That makes two of us" I heard Beth say back to me
I laughed and I started to lightly unpack my suitcases but not fully as I knew I would be moving soon.
I knew Viv would be loving life for the next few weeks as Beth and I had only been together an hour and we were already winding her up. I was looking forward for my first day at Arsenal tomorrow, I had signing of the contract and media day tomorrow, to get ready for my announcement of moving clubs. I was also excited about to meet the girls and then my first training session the day after.—————
