Wei WuXian was someone who was skilled at finding fun for himself, especially talented in the area of seeking joy amid dull circumstances. Since there wasn’t anything else to play with, he could only play with Lan WangJi. He called, “WangJi-xiong.”

"You're so annoying..." Jin Zixuan commented in spite of himself.

The hall was surprisingly silent in that moment so everyone heard him. Realising this, instead if apologising to Wei Wuxian he looked at Jiang Yanli.

Jiang Yanli was glaring at him, as well as Wen Qing, Lan Xichen on the other hand seemed to be trying to tell him something.

He stared at the way the Lan hier moved his eyes and eyebrows for over 40 seconds before realisingnhe meant to look back.

'Oh!' The Jin hier let out before turning to Wei Wuxian, "sorry.." he apologized seriously making the situation all the more awkward.

Jin Guangshan gave his son a dissapointed look before turning to face the front, not wanting to see anymore of it. Madam Jin on the other hand, kept gesturing him to say something else.

Seeing his mother's gestures, he spoke again, "I didn't mean it." He said even more seriously, while staring at the younger boy.

Wei Wuxian wasn't used to people apologising to him, especially not this seriously, he just stared at the Jin awkwardly before chuckling dryly making the interaction even more cumbersome.

Jiang Yanli sighed while shaking her head before turning  face the screen.

Jiang Wanyin and Nie Huaisang were caught between the interaction. Seeing the awkward staring contest the two promptly burst out laughing.

Lan Xichen had been holding his laughter since the Jin looked at their direction, as people began to laugh he laughed freely as well.

His laughter earned him a smack from Wen Qing despite Yanli being between them. He looked up at the girl betrayed, but the girl didn't look back at him, looking at the screen instead as Yanli now giggled lightly into her own sleeve.

Lan WangJi remained motionless.

Wei WuXian, “WangJi.”

He appeared as if he didn’t hear anything.

Wei WuXian, “Lan WangJi.”

Wei WuXian, “Lan Zhan!”

Jin Zixun supressed the urge to agree with his cousin's earlier comment knowing damn well the other gentry cultivators wouldn't react as passively to him.

"Can't you even stay still?" Jiang Wanyin commented recieving a smack from Wei Wuxian before the two started laughing.

Jin Zixuan was still oddly quiet, while Nie Huaisang was giggling behind his fan at the interaction.

Lan WangJi finally stopped writing, and looked up at him with a cold gaze. Wei WuXian shifted backward, raising his hands as if he was defending himself, “Don’t look at me like this. I only called your name because you didn’t answer when I called you WangJi. If you’re upset, you can also call me back with my name.”

Lan WangJi spoke, “Put your legs down.”

Wei WuXian’s sitting posture was extremely improper, with a slanted body and legs propped up. Seeing that he finally teased Lan WangJi to the point that he started to talk, the former silently chuckled to himself, as if he finally saw the clouds disperse and the moon appear[1]. Listening to Lan WangJi’s words, he put his legs down, but his upper body inched unnoticeably closer, and he pressed his arms onto the desk. It was still an unacceptable sitting posture. He asked in a serious tone, “Lan Zhan. Let me ask you a question. Do you… really hate me that much?”
