Beatrice stirred awake, the soft glow of the morning light spilling into the Hufflepuff common room. The room was serene and quiet, a perfect contrast to the festive chaos of Christmas morning. She smiled, glancing over at Mattheo, her brother, who was still fast asleep on the couch, a stray strand of hair falling across his forehead.

After a night of laughter and whispered secrets, she was grateful they had decided to stay in the common room instead of returning to their respective dorms. The absence of the usual clamor of students was comforting; it felt like they had their own little world to celebrate Christmas together.

As the warmth of the holiday enveloped her, Beatrice sprang to her feet, excitement bubbling within her. — Mattheo, wake up! It's Yule! — she exclaimed, nudging him playfully.

He groaned and pulled the blanket over his head. — Just five more minutes. — he mumbled, but the promise of presents was too enticing to ignore.

After a few more nudges, Mattheo finally sat up, his eyes wide with sleep. The two siblings shared a knowing smile, then bounded over to the pile of gifts nestled under the decorated tree in the corner of the common room. The sight of the colorful wrapping paper and shiny bows made Beatrice's heart race with anticipation.

As they began to unwrap their presents, Beatrice felt a rush of joy. She had received thoughtful gifts from her Slytherin friends: a stylish new scarf from Pansy, a rare potion book from Blaise, a beautiful necklace from Daphne, and a personalized Quidditch jersey from Draco.

Her Hufflepuff friends hadn't disappointed either. Hannah had given her a cozy blanket, Justin a set of enchanted quills, Leanne a stunning set of decorative pins, and Susan a delightful assortment of homemade sweets.

Among the pile, she found a neatly wrapped box with the Malfoy crest. Inside was a vintage locket from Lucius and Narcissa, engraved with the words "Always Family." A small smile crept onto her face.

Mattheo handed her a small gift, grinning mischievously. — Open mine next! —

She tore through the wrapping paper to find a beautifully crafted silver bracelet, its charm shaped like a tiny Quidditch broom. — Mattheo, it's perfect! Thank you! —  She threw her arms around him, feeling the warmth.

Then she spotted a package with Hermione's handwriting on it. Curiosity piqued, she carefully unwrapped it to reveal a first edition of Hogwarts: A History. Beatrice was genuinely touched; Hermione had always been supportive, and this gift reminded her of the night they spent sleeping in the great hall.

Theo's gift to Beatrice was a beautifully crafted silver locket. Inside, it held a small picture of the two of them from a summer picnic they had shared, laughing and enjoying each other's company. The locket was engraved with the words "Always Remember," symbolizing their deep friendship and the special bond they shared

Beatrice felt a rush of warmth and happiness as she held the locket in her hands, realizing how much thought and care Theo had put into this gift

Finally, there was one last gift, plain and unadorned, with no name attached. Beatrice furrowed her brow, an uneasy feeling creeping in. She carefully opened it, her breath catching as she revealed a simple yet elegant silver necklace with a small, intricate charm shaped like a star. It felt oddly familiar, and her thoughts immediately wandered to Sirius. She wouldn't be surprised if it were from him, given his penchant for mystery and mischief.
