Clem's POV
Driving through the city, was magical in its own sense. When we reach the restaurant, I was shocked to see how fancy it was. Expensive looking too.
Turning back to Riley worriedly, she was already out of the car and walked over to my side. Opening my door and giving me this bright smile. "Ready?" Taking her hand, I stepped out of the car.
A young boy that looked a year or two younger than me wearing a white and red suit, quickly came over and got into the driver seat and went to park the car.
Walking into the restaurant, I couldn't help but feel out of place. Seeing all the rich people in their gorgeous suits and dresses. Riley gave my hand a soft squeeze before we went up to the hostess.
"Hello, I have a reserved table under McAvoy." The hostess scanned her list before nodding her head after a moment. "Yes, Miss McAvoy. It's nice for you to dine with us again tonight. Follow me."
Grabbing two menus, we followed her to an empty table with two seats. Riley pulled mine out and let me sit first before taking her own seat while the hostess handed us the menus then left, saying that a person will soon come to take our order.
Looking over the menu, I felt uneasy when seeing all the prices. Everything was so expensive. Way out of my budget.
"You can get what you want, love." Looking over at Riley, she grinned. "Don't worry about the price, I get it covered." That didn't bring much comfort, so I just picked the cheapest option there was while Riley got a steak.
Soon, the waiter came and took our order. When leaving, Riley turned to me. "So, while we wait, how about we ask each other questions. I know I have many to ask." Ignoring my cheeks turning red, I nodded my head. "Sure, I don't mind."
"Great, you'll ask a question first then I can ask you one and we can continue going back and forth. That alright with you?"
"Sure." Thinking for a moment, playing with my fingers, I asked, "How old are you?"
"27, turning 28 in a few months." Wow, I through she was younger than that. Her mom looks extremely young to have a 27-year-old daughter. "My turn, why do you cover your eyes? They're so beautiful." My cheeks darkened at that.
"Well, you see, ever since I was younger, I was self-conscious about my eyes. I didn't like how people used to stare at them so I started covering them up. That's all really." Riley frowned at that as I playing with a curl.
We continued to ask questions. I learned that Riley was the third child out of four, loves to play the piano, spends most of her time at her father's bars, and that she wasn't actually very close to her family which surprised me a lot.
Taking a sip of my water, Riley spoke, "What happened to Elijah and Levi's father? I don't see any pictures of any male in the house and you don't really talk about him." I tensed up at that and chocked on my water. "Are you okay, Clem?"
I nodded, couching a little and picked up a napkin to wipe my chin. "I'm sorry if the question is too personal. You don't have to answer if you don't want to."
I shook my head, putting the napkin down. Swallowing the lump in my throat. "No...it's okay. His name is Thomas, he...he was very abusive towards me. I left with the boys when he hit Elijah for the first time then quickly moved here to the city and haven't been in contact with him ever since."
I rubbed the back of my neck nervously. "I asked my old hospital to transfer me as far as possible then pack what I could carried and quickly got out of there when he was out drinking with his buddies. It was hard at first but it didn't take long for me and the boys to settle in."
Riley didn't say anything for a while. She was completely silent. Slowly looking back up and over at her, I saw the rage in her darkening eyes. Her hand that was resting on top of the table was in a tight fist and shaking.
Reaching over, I gently placed a hand over hers. Ignoring the sparks as Riley snapped out of it, looking over at me. I tilted my head, feeling concerned. "Is everything alright?"
Staying silently for a moment, she forced a smile. "Yeah, I'm alright. Sorry about that, I get angry very easily." She laughed.
Just then, our food came and we dug in. Talking about something else as we ate, ignoring what happened.
When we were done, Riley paid the bill and we went back to her car. Driving away from the restaurant, I turned to her. "Where now?"
"Will, the night is still young so let's rest up at a hotel for a while. We don't have to sleep there if you don't want to." She scratch the back of her head. "I'm not really good at planing dates, this is my first one. Sorry if this isn't what you expected."
I didn't really mind staying at a hotel for an hour or two. Not to sound rude, but, I'm enjoying this time away from the boys. Yes they're very calm and quiet kids and I love them very much, but I need some time to myself sometimes. "That sounds lovely."
Grinning, Riley drive to the closest four star hotel she found. Parking her car in the lot, the two of us went inside and went over to the front desk.
It wasn't hard to book a room for the night. After being given the key, the two of us took the elevator to get to our floor. We stayed quiet during the ride up. But Riley was tapping her hand against her leg, a nervous tick of hers that I've noticed.
She kept on glancing back at me, wanting to say something but kept stopping herself. Making me confused but I didn't say anything.
When we reached the fifth floor and the elevator doors opened, we stepped out and looked for our room. Didn't take long to fine. But before we could get in, Riley spoke.
"I have to tell you something." She said, turning to look at me as we reached the hotel room. She looked nervous and was staring down at her feet. "Have you been feeling the sparks whenever we touch?" I silently nodded. "Yes. Do you know what they are?"
"I do. They..." She paused, shifting uncomfortably where she stood. "They mean that the two of us are mates. That we're are meant for each other. As like, romantic like." My eyes widened. "I won't force you into accepting the bond, I know you just go over a abusive relationship and probably don't fully trust me yet or want to be in other relationship so soon so I can wait for you when you are ready. No matter how long it takes-"
Stepping forward and standing on my tippy toes, I pressed my lips against hers. Feeling Riley froze under me. After a moment, I pulled away.
Riley was staring at me with wide eyes filled with shock as I took a step back. "I'll happily be your mate. These past couple months have been the best months in my life. We're just going to ignore how creepy you were at the start."
Smirking, Riley leaned down to my height. "Oh? I was creepy?" I nodded. "Yup. You gave me quite the scare when you suddenly appeared at my apartment without me even telling you my address."
Chuckling, a small glint of amusement and lust formed in Riley's eyes. "And for that, I apologize. How about I make it up to you in the bedroom?"
"Alright. Let's see if you really mean your apology." Riley shuttered at that. And before I knew it, she wrapped an arm around my waist and pulled me into the hotel room. Locking the door and flinging me onto the giant bed.
Where the two of us had a night of bliss.
