Chapter 12: Atem's concern

Atem

Man, it seems like everything that happen felt like a week. Jemma and Nicole seemed to be adjusting things well being in a different reality, and as that being Yugi and the others once again to fight against an enemy we fought before seems unreal to me. 

As I was thinking, Mana sat next to me, and notices my behavior. "Atem, what is the matter? You seem to be totally distracted lately, I really can tell." 

I blink at her. Even though, it was her idea to use her summon magic to teleport us to the modern world and to use it to help the others from dire need, I just felt guilt that she would never be able to use magic ever again, or send us back to the Afterlife in Egypt. 

I tried to hide the touchy subject, "You really think I look distracting? Try with how Yugi is right now?

Apparently, I may not be an expert on girls per say, but does it look like he's attracted to Jemma?"

The former magician apprentice looks at what I was saying as with her own eyes, she seems to be amazed at it as well. 

"Wow, i think you are absolutely right, for once? I don't have any relationship tactics I know of, since I was so focused on my studies, I don't know anything about love." 

I raised an eyebrow being surprised, "Are you sure?" 

Mana was about to reply, Joey leans into his shoulder onto me, "So, what you two talking about over here? 

You seem serious about something important." 

"Nothing important, Joey. It's nothing for you to know about, I assure you." I replied, as Mana concurs with me, "Yes! It-it's nothing for you to know, it's between the two of us, a deep secret." 

The duelist pouts, "Awe, you really can't tell me?!? C'mon, I can keep a secret! Pinkie Promise!" 

I crossed my arms, "No can do, Joey. You will absolutely blab it out. For once, my lips are completely sealed. Pharaoh's honor." 

That is when Jemma said, "Atem, I want you to be my referee for a practice match against Tristan. He really wants to battle me. " 

I said, "Coming!" As l followed, I thought to myself, "What would Marik want in this dimension, and why is Jemma and Nicole so important?"

Joey

I still am bewildered that the fact Jemma and Nicole came from another dimension, and that is both of them are duelists as well. 

Although, having the evil version of a bad guy that you dealt with before came back and kidnap your best friend is an overstatement. 

I sigh, as T'ea looks at me, as she asked, "Are you ok, you seemed overwhelmed about Marik, well, his evil side coming back. " 

"Yeah, but still, the way things are brings back a lot of memories, doesn't it? Saving the world of Duel Monsters from unsettling doom? The exciting rush of dueling?" 

She seems unpleasant about the adventures we've been through, "Yeah... but we almost lost Atem and Yugi on several occasions, remember? They really do love to scare us like that." 

We thought back of all the adventures as that i crossed my arms, sweating, "Come to think of it, i hate to admit it, you're absolutely right about that." 

As then, Tristan and Jemma had finished their battle, as Atem declares, "Winner, Jemma!" 

Tristan groans as Jemma laughs at the sight. "Gee, Tristan, i honestly thought you could beat me since you wanted to duel me right after i came from my dimension." 

He waves his hand in defeat, "You and Sliverwing are incredible. You really have an amazing deck, why am i so jealous of a duelist who is from another dimension?!?"

She chuckled at the dismay, as that i hear a phone ringing. It reveals it was mine, as i apologize, "Sorry, let me take this.

Hello, Joey speaking." That was when I heard a voice i haven't heard in a while, "Hi, big brother. Long time no see." 

I gasp in shock, "S-Serenity? Is that you, sis?"

Serenity nods, "Who else could it be? Yugi's grandpa just picked me up from the airport and I wanted to inform you right away." 

"Wow, I simply can't believe you're in Domino City! Man, is it ok i brought the gang with me? I kind of need to fill you in of what's happening. Let's meet in say, five min?"

"Sounds like a good plan." 

I put away my phone, as Jemma asked, "Who was on the phone, Joey? Is it someone important?"

Nicole said, smirking, "Maybe Wheeler found a girl at last! Who would be good partner for you? Perhaps Mai?"

I sweat, "Stop the teasing, Nicole. Actually, it appears we have a special person visiting us. She's at the Game Shop as we speak." 

Atem and the others blink in confusion, as that we headed to the familiar shop, where Serenity was waiting. 

"My goodness, it's Serenity!" Yugi exclaimed in surprise, as I hugged my sister. "Man, it's so good to see you, sis. You've grown a lot taller." 

"Have i? It appears that i see familiar faces." 

"It feels like it's been forever since we part ways, hasn't it?" T'ea asked as she smiled, as she notice Jemma and Nicole. 

"Who are you guys? Are you friends of my brother's?"

"Indeed we are. I'm Jemma Evelyn Frank, and this is my best friend, Nicole. Joey and the others are helping us with saving the world again." 

As she heard that, she sigh, "The world of Duel Monsters are in trouble again? Joey, it appears every time i visit, i hear there's trouble. You really have to learn not to worry me." 

I pout, crossing my arms, "How you think it is my fault?!?"

Serenity

As we head inside, Jemma's eyes were mesmerize of all the collection of Duel Monsters cards displaying on the wall. "This is absolutely amazing! I can't.." She said, as Nicole simply smiled at how she was geeking over it. 

Nicole said, "Breathe, girl. I know how much this is exciting for you, but you did promised that you would try to find our way back home, remember?"

The red-haired teen blushed as that she really couldn't believe how much of a fool she was of doing it in front of us. 

Yugi reassures her, "Awe, it's all right to geek it out, Jemma. I guess it is one of the perks of owning a game shop as your house. C'mon, let's go to my room." 

I glanced through Yugi's eyes as that i have a gut feeling that saving the world of Duel Monsters would involve these girls in particular. 

"I wonder why Yugi seems protective of Jemma? This is not the first time he is protective of his friends." I wondered. 

T'ea sighs, "I really hope that saving the world is not a regular thing now. We've dealt a lot already." 

Joey raised his eyebrow, as he replied, "C'mon, we did save the world tons over the years. I guess that we can't escape it if we wanted to. Right, sis?"

I remain silent, as Atem asked, "Are you ok? Is something wrong?"

I waved, reassuring the pharaoh, "Oh, me? It's nothing to be worried about. I'm completely fine!" 

But deep down, i do worry, worry about what we need to do.
