Chapter 6: The Shadow Duel Pt. 1

Jemma

I look around , as Atem, Mana, Joey and Tea was nervous .  I can understand why. In this duel, it's something more sinister than an average duel. 

From what I remembered , the Shadow Realm is something you don't want to be in. Anything can happen in a shadow duel, and it is not pretty. 

I gulped, knowing that in order to stop whatever is controlling Nicole and save Yugi from being disappeared from his dimension, I have to duel. 

"I really don't like this, Atem. It's bad enough that Yugi's life is in danger, Jemma is hanging his life in the balance in a Shadow Game. " Tea said. 

Atem looks at me , as he said, "Jemma, I know you can defeat this evil, and you have our support." 

I said, surprised at his words, "Atem." The young Pharaoh smiles at me and gave me a thumbs up.

Joey said, "Yeah, you can do this, Jemma. Just be you."

That is a little understatement . How can I be myself, even though I don't know the true reason of having my deck that I don't understand?

Nicole chuckles, "You are so consent of trying to save this dimension. You are quite a rebel, Jemma."

"Listen, I will save Yugi and save you." I demanded as I raise my duel disk up.

"Let's duel!" We cried.

I have to admit, having a Shadow Duel really takes me back through memories. I said, "Of all our adventures we have together, I just hate the Shadow Realm. " 

Atem said, "I don't like it either, but it all lies in Jemma's hands now. " 

I said, "It just feels like something with Nicole. She's not .. unless. ... oh no." 

"What? What could you mean?" T'ea asks curiously. 

"I hate to admit it, but it feels Nicole is under influence of evil Ancient magic, like with Marik in the Battle City Finals." 

"You mean that Jemma is facing Nicole's evil half, not the good version? " Mana said, as Atem looks nervous about this particular duel. 

"Even if your theory is correct, Joey, it seems like Jemma would have to be stronger than ever if she wants to save Nicole and Yugi." 

As the Shadow Duel was about to begin, I begin to grow more nervous than ever. 

"Let's Duel!" Both duelists began to say as Nicole raises a card from her hand. 

"First up, I summon Battle Steer in Attack mode!" 

I said, "Hey, that's my monster!  You creep! " 

Nicole sneers, "This is actually not yours, Wheeler. This is my card, my rules." 

Jemma said, "You only see the evil versions of Duel Monster cards. There is no way the Nicole I know had that card, not even close." 

"Oh, man, talk about taking a hard -core monster on the first turn. I hate to admit it, Jemma has no clue what that monster can do." T'ea exclaims. 

Jemma

This is nuts! The Nicole I've known back home wouldn't dare summon a monster like Battle Steer Beast. 

"As I recalled, that Duel Monster is an normal type , and it's ATK is 1800 and it's Defense points are 1300. 

This duel wouldn't be easy to get out of. Still, I have to do this duel, or else Yugi wouldn't last long . "  I thought. 

Nicole smiles, "How funny that you would have the courage to challenge me? I'm so scared. Battle Steer Beast, attack! " 

The beast attacks me, as my life points were down to 4500 points.

"Jemma, you ok?" Atem asks. 

Suddenly, Yugi screams. "AHH!" 

"Yugi! What you've done, Nicole?" I demanded. 

"As you lose life points, Yugi looses a piece of his soul to the machine that operates portals between dimensions. Pretty neat huh?" Nicole asks. 

Tea exclaimed, "How awful! Jemma, you can win this Shadow game and get the real Nicole back to you! 

I know you can do this. You know of what Yugi would say, "Believe in the heart of the cards. " Just believe in your deck ." 

I look at T'ea with shock. I never thought T'ea would be the one who is encouraging me, even though I'm from another dimension. 

Still, with Yugi's life on the line, can I really be able to pull this duel off?
