The time we spent inside that tunnel was starting to feel like hours. Or at least that's what it seemed like... And not even a snack or a drink was offered to me!

The clock on my phone still read 3:52, which was the time when the car started flying (or so I think). However, I was almost sure it was well past five in the morning. I was beginning to feel impatient, like a child stuck in a car during a long road trip.

"Are we there yet?"

The driver simply let out a dry laugh and shook his head with an inconvenient smile spreading across his face, which, I must say, was quite irritating.

On the other hand, I started to notice that the tunnel was changing colors—no longer like those of time travel movies. It began to have a blue that wasn't as strong, a darker and more familiar shade. It was the blue of the night sky, bathed in the delicate light of the gas giants we call stars, in common language.

I looked out of the window to my left: hundreds of buildings stretched across the horizon, but it was only when we started to descend that I realized the *giganormous* size of those constructions. Hundreds of tiny windows stretched vertically and horizontally across some of the buildings, geometrically placed, while others could almost be called "art," given the chaos of textures and colors on those houses.

In most of the homes, it was clear that families were living there, judging by the number of children, adults, and dogs mingling from house to house like good neighbors. There was also a large river snaking through the city, separating the houses from the docks, the farmlands, and the smoky factories (they may have been clever enough to figure out time travel, but this crowd didn't seem too concerned with global warming).

Everything seemed unbelievably well-organized and happy! Of course, that perfection led me to the conclusion that my hope of never having left my little hometown was completely shattered... It was all too happy and relaxed to be a metropolis serving millions of hurried, impatient people day and night, including holidays.

"Welcome to Tallis!"
