I never could have imagined that our adventure would lead us to this point. Running through the abandoned mall, trying to escape from the Cranks was a nightmare I never thought would become a reality. But here we are, with me being bitten by one of those monsters right in the stomach.
The pain was excruciating, but I didn't have much time to dwell on it as we continued to run for our lives. We finally made it to the Safe Haven, where they immediately laid me down in a bed and tried to treat my wounds. But a few days later, the infection had spread to my chest and back, causing me to be in even greater agony.
Newt walked into the room, his face filled with worry and fear as he saw the black infected veins covering my back. I could see in his eyes that he was absolutely destroyed at the thought of losing me to this horrible disease. I reached out for him, needing his comfort more than anything in that moment.
"Newt," I whispered, tears streaming down my face. "I don't know if I can do this. The pain is unbearable."
He took my hand in his, his touch providing some small comfort to my aching body. "Y/N, you have to hang on. We'll find a way to save you, I promise."
For the next few hours, Newt had to basically hold me down as I writhed in agony. The pain was unbearable, radiating through every fiber of my being. But Newt stayed by my side, his presence a source of strength and comfort during the darkest of times.
Eventually, the time came for us to embark on another mission – this time to find Minho and save him from the clutches of WCKD. Despite my condition, I insisted on coming along, determined to do whatever it took to help our friend.
As we ventured into the unknown, the infection started to take hold of me even more. I could feel myself starting to lose control, the virus turning me into something I didn't recognize. When we finally found Minho, everything spiraled out of control.
I turned on Thomas and Newt, my mind clouded by the virus coursing through my veins. I couldn't stop myself from attacking them, despite the love and friendship we shared. Newt, in a desperate bid to save me, held me down as Thomas ran to get the serum from Brenda.
"Newt, please, KILL ME, please, Newt, it hurts so much." I groaned feeling the anger rise again.
I begged and begged for Newt to end my suffering, to put me out of my misery. But he refused, his voice filled with determination and love. "Hang on a bit longer, Y/N. We'll get through this, I promise."
As Thomas injected me with the serum, I felt my consciousness slipping away. The pain slowly faded, replaced by a sense of peace and tranquility. I could feel Newt holding me close, his heartbeat a soothing rhythm against my ear.
And then, everything went dark.
I woke up in a daze, feeling groggy and disoriented. Newt was sitting by my side, his eyes red-rimmed with exhaustion and worry. When he saw me stir, a look of relief washed over his face.
"Y/N, you're awake," he whispered, his voice filled with emotion. "You're going to be okay now. We did it, we saved you."
And, soon enough, I recovered and I was back to being the badass girl from the Glade, and now, the badass girl in the Safe Haven.
