Y/N's POV

I never thought I would find myself in this situation. Kidnapped, beaten, and shot. It all happened so quickly. One moment I was going about my day, the next I was being dragged into a van and taken to some abandoned warehouse.

I can't believe how lucky I am that Intelligence, my team, was able to track me down. I remember hearing Adam's voice as he burst through the door, gun drawn. "Y/N, sweetheart, oh my god, are you okay?" He rushed to my side, his hands gentle as he checked me over for injuries. "Adam..." I whispered, as he continued he search for any more injuries, as he then began putting pressure on the wound, causing me to cry out in agony.

"I know darling, I know, I'm sorry." Adam said frantically as Jay ran over. "We need an ambulance, now!" Jay's voice was urgent as he called for help, his eyes never leaving me.

I could feel the pain throbbing in my shoulder where the bullet had struck me. "I'm scared, Adam," I whispered, tears welling up in my eyes.

He brushed a strand of hair away from my face, his eyes filled with nothing but love and concern. "I've got you, Y/N. You're safe now. We're going to get you out of here."

I tried to nod, but the pain was too much. I could feel myself slipping in and out of consciousness as Adam and Jay spoke to each other in hushed tones, waiting for the ambulance to arrive.

"It's going to be okay, sweetheart," Adam's voice was soft and reassuring. "You're strong, you're going to make it through this."

I wanted to believe him, but the pain was overwhelming. I could hear the sound of sirens in the distance, getting closer and closer. Help was on the way.

As the ambulance arrived, Adam and Jay helped me onto the stretcher, never once leaving my side. I could hear Jay talking to the paramedics, explaining what had happened and urging them to take care of me.

"I'll ride with her to the hospital," Adam's voice was firm, his hand gripping mine tightly. I felt a rush of gratitude for him, for never leaving me alone in this terrifying situation.

The ride to the hospital was a blur of pain and fear. I could feel Adam's hand squeezing mine, his voice a constant reassurance in the chaos. "Stay with me, darling. You're going to be okay."

When we arrived at the hospital, I was rushed into surgery to remove the bullet and stitch up my shoulder. I was put to sleep via anaesthetic seeing Adam's concern face as I slipped from consciousness.

Adam's POV

When Y/N finally drifted off, the doctors wheeled her into the surgery room, so I walked back into the waiting room where Intelligence was. Jay embraced me in a hug, as the team were relieved to have found Y/N after 5 days.

The surgery went on for hours, with little to no updates causing concerns over the team. Alvin was like a father figure to her as she was an orphan, so it was hard for him too.

Finally after what felt like an eternity, the surgeon entered the room, as we all stood up respectively.

"She's going to be fine, she's a hell of a fighter as she pulled through 2 flat lines. The bullet skimmed an artery which caused her to flat line. But she'll be okay, and best to put her on desk duty for a while." He said, as we all sighed with relief. Myself, and the rest of the team thanked the surgeon, and said one of us was allowed to visit.

"Al, you should go, you're like her father." I said as Alvin shook his head. "No, Ruzek, you stayed up for hours trying to find her, you didn't want to lose her. You found the location she was at. You go. We're gonna go back to the District, so we'll see you later." He replied, as he gave me a small push in the direction of Y/N's room.

I entered the room to see Y/N very pale, and multiple wires coming from her body, with drips and painkillers. I held her hand, giving it a small squeeze. I shouldn't of let her go on that stupid mission. I spiralled into my thoughts, regretting how I let her go alone, but my thoughts were cut short as he squeezed my hand, ans her eyes slowly opened.

Y/N's POV

Adam was waiting for me when I woke up, his eyes filled with relief. "You're going to be just fine darling," he whispered, pressing a gentle kiss to my forehead. "I love you so much, and I'm never going to let anything happen to you again."

I smiled weakly, grateful for his presence. I was told the team had returned to District 21, but I knew they would be back as soon as they could. I also heard that Intelligence had caught the offenders, and justice would be served.

After many tests and observations, I was discharged from the hospital in bandages and a sling. Adam helped me into the car, his touch gentle as he buckled me in. "We're going to go back to 21 now, sweetheart. Then, we're gonna go home so you can rest and heal, and I'll be right here with you every step of the way."

As we drove back to District 21, I leaned my head against his shoulder, feeling safe and loved. "I don't know what I would do without you, Adam. You saved me."

He squeezed my hand, his eyes never leaving the road. "I'll always protect you, Y/N, I promise. You're my everything, and I'll never let anything happen to you again."

However, that's when things took a turn, Adam went to get stuff from his desk upstairs, and I was sat on the bench in the locker room, alone with my thoughts, reflecting the traumatic events that occured in the past 9 hours.

Surely enough, my thoughts swirled as I found it harder and harder to breathe. I didn't even hear the door open, but then someone sat on the bench with me, and then I knew it was Adam.

"Darling, you're safe now. Just breathe, okay? In and out, just like we practiced," Adam's soothing voice whispered into my ear as he held me close.

I tried to focus on his words, on the rise and fall of my chest as I struggled to catch my breath. I felt Adam's arms around me, his warmth seeping into my bones, and for a moment, the panic began to ebb away.

"A-Adam," I croaked, my voice cracking from the tears and the pain, "I don't know if I can do this. I'm so scared."

"I know, sweetheart. I know, keep breathing for me." Adam murmured, his lips brushing against my temple as he kissed me gently. "But you're strong, Y/N. You're the strongest person I know. You've made it through so much already. You can get through this too."

I let out a shuddering breath, trying to steady myself as I clung to Adam. His presence was like a lifeline, a beacon of light in the darkness that threatened to consume me.

"You're going to be okay, darling. I promise," Adam whispered, his voice filled with a fierce determination that made me believe him.

I nodded, letting myself lean into him as he held me close. I didn't know how long we stayed like that, wrapped in each other's arms, but eventually the panic began to fade, replaced by a bone-deep exhaustion that made every muscle in my body ache.

"Let's get you home, sweetheart," Adam said softly, his hand reaching up to brush away the tears that still clung to my cheeks. "You need rest, and some cuddles."

I nodded, grateful for his support as he helped me to my feet. I winced as pain shot through my shoulder, but Adam was there to steady me, his arm wrapped protectively around my waist.

Together, we made our way out of the changing room and towards the exit, where Jay Halstead was waiting for us with a worried expression on his face.

"Hey, how you doing?" Jay asked, his eyes flickering over my battered form.

"She's hanging in there," Adam replied, his voice firm with resolve. "We're heading home now."

Jay nodded, his gaze softening as he looked at me. "Take care of yourself Y/N, you too Ruzek. But, you might not need it, your both fighters."

"We will, thanks Jay" I promised, my voice filled with a fierce determination, as Adam patted Jay on the back. "I'll always protect her from now on."

And with that, we made our way out of the police station and into the night, ready for some well deserved sleep.
