I never imagined the Glade getting destroyed in such a terrifying way. As I stood there with Newt, gazing out at the chaos unfolding before us, my heart raced with fear. The sound of the grievers approaching sent chills down my spine, and I instinctively sought refuge in Newt's embrace.
I buried my face into his chest, trying to block out the deafening noise that echoed around us. Newt's arms wrapped around me protectively, offering me comfort in the midst of the madness. "It's going to be alright, love," he whispered into my ear, his voice soothing and reassuring.
But as Thomas yelled for everyone to hide, the fear crept back in. Newt's grip tightened around me as he looked into my eyes, his own filled with concern. "I love you," he said softly, pressing a quick kiss to my forehead before urging me to go and hide.
Reluctantly, I pulled away from him and followed Thomas into the long grass, my heart pounding in my chest. The adrenaline surged through my veins as we crouched down, trying to stay out of sight. But when Zart was taken by a griever right before our eyes, the panic set in.
We ran as fast as we could, the terror driving us onward until we were face to face with a griever. My breath caught in my throat as I watched Teresa set it on fire, the flames illuminating the grotesque creature before it crumbled to the ground.
We made our way to the council shed and huddled together in silence as the grievers surrounded us. The tension in the air was palpable, the fear hanging heavy on all of us. When they started taking gladers one by one, my heart shattered with each loss.
And then they took Alby.
Tears welled up in my eyes as I watched the man who had been like a father to me being dragged away by the monsters. Newt held me close, his arms a comforting presence as we watched helplessly. The Glade that had once been our home lay in ruins, the destruction unimaginable.
