"Ugh, I'm freezing...."
"Hurry, Min-ah. There's a stove over there."
The two of them hurried to the stove, shouting noisily. Wet laundry was hanging out to dry behind them. There wasn't much wind, but their hands were already cold.
"Ugh... I'm freezing cold. Doing laundry is hard work."
"Because there are some big ones...."
Kim Min-ah lamented, and Bae Plum nodded in agreement. This laundry area doesn't handle personal laundry. It handles combatant uniforms and items for public facilities. For that reason, it sometimes handles washing sheets, blankets, and tents.
Today's laundry was mostly sheets and blankets.
"Thank you for your hard work. Have some tea."
"Oh..., thank you."
Raising an abrupt voice, Kim Min-ah hesitantly accepted the mug from Katerina. The mug was slightly warm, and she clutched it in relief.
"Please take this too."
She also handed out a mug to Bae Purum.
"Thank you, Miss Katerina. Um... it's a tough job. You always help out here, don't you?"
"It is hard work, but there are so many of us doing it at once, so it doesn't usually feel that hard. But today there were a lot of big items, so I'm glad you helped out."
"Haha... yeah, it was worth coming..."
Bae Pullum let out a dry chuckle and looked at Kim Min-ah next to her. She also looked a little embarrassed.
They had come to the laundry area early in the morning to make sure they could catch Katerina. Of course, helping with hanging out the laundry was one of their pretexts for visiting, but hanging out the laundry in the wind in winter was harder work than they had imagined.
"Maybe I should fight with a bit of restraint..."
"This is different from that, right?"
Kim Min-ah's words were out of sync, and Bae Pullum immediately interjected. In fact, they currently don't have the luxury of holding back in battle.
"There's no need to hesitate. We're grateful to you for protecting this place. Rather, you're doing your laundry so that everyone can use it comfortably."
Katerina said in a calm tone. The place where the laundry was being done was like a battlefield in a different sense, but the people working there were working very seriously. In a way, it was in this laundry room that the devastation of battle really came to life. The state of the battle uniforms made it easy for them to imagine a battle situation.
"The weather is nice today as well. It's a nice day as the laundry dries beautifully."
The two looked at Katerina, smiling in a good mood, with mixed feelings.
The elf girl looked to be 12 or 13 years old, but as she spoke, it was immediately clear that she was not same she looked. However, they didn't know how old she really was.
Kim Min-ah stared at Katerina intently. After Kim Roksu asked her, she researched elves in her own way. Kim Min-ah was still a high school student, but unfortunately she was not familiar with high fantasy. Her knowledge of light novels was not enough, so together with Bae Pullum, she searched for an explanatory book. Although she had come this far with such a brief knowledge, she hesitated when the time came. It was difficult to ask a human how old they were, let alone an elf.
