Lúthien and Eryndor spend the whole day after Lúthien's crying session at the garden. She had not tried talking to her adar again since that morning. She had been avoiding Legolas too, because if her adar knew, then he knew too. She also had not seen Glorfindel around since that day. It was weird, like he was going out of his way to avoid her.
Anyway, she had decided it was time to face her fears. To tell the truth, she really missed her adar and hannar. So that day, she woke up determined and she went to see her adar first thing in the morning, well, after breakfast, of course. She had reached her father's study, and she stood outside the door without knocking. She was telling herself that she would knock when she was ready, but she knew that what she was really doing was stalling. She did not know why, but having to knock and face her adar seemed so daunting at that moment. She decided to knock before a full-blown panic attack took over.
Thranduil had known that his seldë was outside his door from the start, but he did not want to scare her by opening the door. He wanted to take everything slowly and let her come to him on her own by her own terms, and not because she felt forced to talk to him. But it was also for himself. He still had trouble understanding that her biological father was the 'noble' Lord Elrond. When his selde had finally knocked, however, he was ecstatic. Because believe it or not, he had missed his selde.
"Come in." Thranduil told her. But before she could come in, he made himself look like he was busy because he did not want to make her think that he was waiting for her.
"Adar...." Lúthien whispered as she was ready to cry. She desperetly wanted to go hug her adar but she was afraid that he was really going to send her back.
Thranduil had noticed that she was in the process of having an emotional breakdown. So he approached her first. When Lúthien saw that he was not angry, she lunged at him like an animal starved of affection.
"There is nothing to be sad about, seldë nin. Everything is going to be okay. I will not let them take you from me, seldë nin. Never. " Thranduil told her as he hugged her.
And, at that moment, Lúthien knew that everything was going to be okay. As long as she had her adar and hannar by her side, then nothing could touch her.
"Adar, I do not want to go back. They were all so cruel after naneth passed. And then suddenly I had to learn how to survive all on my own. It was all so scary. If I didn't have Estel to help me out, I'm sure I would have perished long ago." she finally opened up to him.
Thranduil was happy she was opening up little by little, but that did not mean that he was not furious with Elrond. He could not understand how Elrond was okay with throwing an elfling out of its home, without any means of survival in the wild. He always knew that Elrond was a pretentious git but that just confirmed it. He also knew who Estel was and was making a mental note to thank him the next time he saw him.
At that moment, Legolas burged in, looking all furious. It was clear that he had been listening in on the conversation, and he was ready to raise all hell against Elrond and his family.
"I'm going to fucking kill them! ", he growled.
"Hannar....", Lúthien was obviously scared for him after hearing him say that.
"Don't worry muinthel nin. I'm going to avenge you. They will never know what hit them." he said as he started leaving.
Before he could do much damage, he was stopped by Glorfindel, who looked like he was about to knock. When it registered to him that Glorfindel was the one to stop him, his anger hit the next stage, and he lunged at him.
"How could you not protect her!!! How do you live with yourself knowing that because of you an elfing lost its inocence!!! How could you let her get hurt??? ANSWER ME!!!"
"Legolas enough!" Thranduil shouted at his son.
"But Adar, how can you not be angry with him?"
"Because Glorfindel did not know."
Lúthien was confused. What did her Adar mean by Glorfindel did not know? Did it mean that he was not there for her? Lúthien had a lot of questions.
Meanwhile, Glorfindel was in shock. He had never seen the prince so angry before. Usually, the prince was the most friendly elf in all of the elven realms.
Legolas, on the other side, was trying to come to terms with how awful of a life his muinthel must have endured. But a part of him was proud because it meant that his muinthel was a survivor.
"Now, if all of you have processed all the information, we have to find a way that would make it impossible for Elrond to take back my seldë." Thranduil said, as he was going over all the possible ways of destroying Elrond.
"Adar, it is easy. You just have to make Lúthien an official princess or even better the heir to the crown." Legolas suggested. But in reality, he was really eager to get dismissed and have more freedom. Although, he really did believe that Luthien would be a better fit.
