A small laugh escaped my lips as I watched the girls walk away, the click of their shoes fading whilst their murmurs followed. It was clear that no one really spoke back to them, and even if they did, they hadn't been able to fight back for once. It was refreshing to see. This Percy kid really had a lot of balls for even speaking up.
Before I knew it, I could hear Marceline giggle, that soon bursted into laughter. She could always light up a room with that laugh, and it showed on Percy's face that he was amused with her reaction. It was so confusing on trying to read his face, because one moment, he would be staring at her like he didn't care if she just walked off and never returned, but the again, he looked at her like she was the most fascinating thing in the world. I guess she had that affect on people.
After she calmed down, I watched as Percy and Marceline continued to interact with another while I stood to the side with a bored expression. They talked about their old school and their experiences with the crap teachers.
I kind of zoned out halfway through the conversation until I felt a jab to my side, which made me grunt and turned to Marceline with an offended look, to which I was met with her looking at me and then to Percy. I think he asked a question, but I couldn't bring myself to remember it.
"Uh..." I stuttered, staring at Percy and Marceline with a blank expression. "I just asked on if you and Marceline were a couple." Percy interrupted my thought process with a ridiculous question, which made me almost choke on my spit at the atrocity.
For those of you new here, no, me and Marceline are not (and never will be) together. We're foster siblings. Dirtbags.
After clearing my throat, I quickly answered, "No! No, yikes. No. We're siblings, strictly siblings." I really didn't wanna mention the foster part to Percy, it was kind of useless information. Speaking of the guy, I could see his face flush up in embarrassment at the error and his attempt on trying to seem nonchalant (which he was failing horribly at, by the way). It was kind of cute but pitiful.
As he baffled on, my mind wondered on where he came from. Why did he move into the school in the middle of term? He's gonna struggle to even adjust to a new environment, nonetheless new teachers and students; However, he seems to be doing fine on his own given the fact that he snapped back to Casey like that.
After countless flustered apologies from him and Marceline trying to calm him down, my attention was on to his wallet. Usually, I would be snooping at someone's wallet if they had, like, a stack or wad of cash, but it was for two things, a type of currency he had and a photograph.
Now, usually, it wouldn't be weird for someone to have a photograph, but it was different. I could see a girl standing in front of a building (maybe a monument or something) with a proud smile on her face, her blonde hair framing her face perfectly. Maybe she was a long-distanced girlfriend?
Next was the coins in his wallet. Some people use Yen, others use Euros, but Percy goddamn Jackson is using something I've never seen before. His coins had what looked to be a trident on the front of one, another had what looked to be a horse mixed with some sort of fish. It was all confusing.
"Is that... Like... Chocolate coins? Why do you have that in your wallet?" I questioned with a raised eyebrow as I pointed to the coins in his wallet, which earned another jab to the side from Marceline (which I'm 99% sure is gonna bruise later) and a look from Percy that made me feel dumb.
I looked down in embarrassment until I heard his voice, "Anyways... You two free after school? I gotta show you guys a cool place I found yesterday." He asked curiously, his green eyes shining with a hopeful look in them. This made me turn to Marceline with a curious gaze, wanting her insight on this.
Now, surely, knowing that even though she was slow with reading a room and calling out suspicious people, she would know that this was a bad idea—
"Sure! I'm sure mum wouldn't care much." Marceline chirped, clearly curious on what Percy had to show us both. Oh, Jesus Christ. Jeffery Dahmer would've loved us if he knew how oblivious we were. Percy smiled and nodded excitedly, interested in the fact that she agreed so easily into coming with him.
This is how people get kidnapped, kids.
I sighed softly and rolled my eyes at Marceline before turning back to Percy with a glare, "You try anything stupid, mate, and I'll kill you." I threatened, my voice coming out more softer than I liked. God damn it. I could see the green-eyed boy fight back a smile on his stupidly pretty face. He was so annoying already, and he just here.
Speaking of the boy, he only nodded in respect. Shortly after that quick little introduction and invitation, off went the bell, which signalled the next and final class of the day. I groaned at the sound. "I'll see you two after school, front entrance." Percy quickly mentioned before packing his wallet away back into his pocket and speeding out of the Cafeteria.
I sighed and turned to Marceline with a deadpanned look, "Are we really going with a strange boy to this 'Cool Place'?" I questioned rhetorically, and like always, she chirped back with a confident look in her eyes, "Of course. He probably doesn't have any friends, he needs some."
I grumbled incoherently before wrapping my arms around Marceline's and made my way out of the Cafeteria by her side. This 'Cool Place' better be really good if it meant that I had to skip lunch for it.
