[5] Gods are real, and I'm not Catholic.

"Camp... Half-Blood? Is that— Like— Some sort of conversion camp? Y'all worship God or somethin'?" I found myself blabbing out questions before I could stop myself. The only camp I really heard of was a conversion 'therapy' camp, and I wasn't in the mood to hear about how Jesus loves you and crap like that, I've already had it so many times.

Percy raised an eyebrow at the question before only shaking his head with an unknowing look, "No...? Well— We do worship Gods, but not just one." He answered what seemed to be honestly, but to be completely clear, I never really believe people like Percy.

Marceline then cut in with her own question, "What type of Gods?" She pryingly asked, clearly confused when she had heard that they believed in multiple Gods. I agreed with her. I knew that there were people who believed in multiple Gods and whatnot, like Loki, Thor, those ones, but I wasn't really smart enough to know what they were talking about.

Percy then heaved out a sigh and rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly, avoiding eye contact with any of us. "Well... You guys know Greek Gods and that? And how they have kids with mortals, well, their offsprings are called 'Demigods'—"

I haven't heard too many stories of demigods, well, except Perseus, son of Zeus and partner of Princess Andromeda. However, I knew a lot about Greek Gods, like Hermes with his speed and Apollo with his healing. Marceline's favourite God was Aphrodite, she even prayed to her a couple of times. I didn't mind Dionysus, getting pissed wasn't that bad. Me and Marceline nod at the question with Demigods and Gods.

"Well... That's what you two are. One of your parents have been with a God, we just have to figure out who that is."

— Marceline's POV —

As I stared at Percy with a stunned look, I didn't realise that the corners of my lips were raising. Demigods and Gods were real?! And we were a result of them.

"I— I...— What?" I stuttered out with a look of both disbelief and excitement merging on my face. It didn't sound real. It couldn't be real. How could we be demigods? The most we got was bullies and animals trying to ram into us at school trips. There were no monsters, no cool, flashy, villain guy trying to kill us. There was just weird birds and horses after us.

"Your parents... Is one of them..— Absent, or something?" Percy asked innocently as he looked at both me and August. I saw the brunet boy stiffen up, almost defensively. August always did that. He never looked comfortable whenever someone asked him things like that.

August never looked comfortable anywhere.

I found myself answering for my brother again, his silence always spoke more than it was supposed to, "Yeah. Both of them were. We're in the foster system." I answered with the sincerest look I could muster, but it's hard when all you could think about was the fact that the Gods that you've been praying to were real.

I saw both Percy and August look at me with surprise, actually, August looked more shocked. The curly-headed boy hated whenever I told people that we were from the foster system, he always said it was 'unimportant' to mention it. Percy looked more surprised, guess he's never seen much foster kids in his life.

"Alright... That makes things a little bit harder. But that's fine—! We'll figure it out." Percy muttered before beckoning us to follow him once more towards this 'Camp'. His tone indicated that this was, infact, not fine, but we have to be. I smiled and grabbed August's hand, walking down with our new friend. I was eager to explore more about this place anyways.

After a bit of follow the leader (and almost falling up the hill that led to the buildings), we made it to the Camp. I panted and giggled before turning to August, almost bursting out in laughter when I saw his exhausted and moody expression. Percy slowed down and gone towards the irritated boy, soon grabbing his hand gently to pick him up to where we were standing, a small grin on his face when he looked at August; That made August huff and yank his hand away from the blond, saying something about 'Not needing his help'.

I turned back to admire the new structures in front of me and was met with a beautiful view. There were tons of kids running across the fields, and the buildings seemed to have some sort of flag in front of them, I saw one with a dove artwork, another with the sun, and so on.

"Already have your eyes on the cabins?" Percy came up from behind me. I'm guessing he left August on his own, good idea. "Those are cabins? They're huge! Which one's yours?" I exclaimed at the reveal that the buildings were cabins, they were the size of our house! The blue eyed boy smiled and pointed towards a cabin further away from the others, it was more blue compared to the ones I've seen. I also noticed that the flag it had was a trident.

Poseidon's trident.

I gasped and almost squealed at the fact that Percy was the son of Poseidon, "Are you Poseidon's kid?!" I blurted out, turning to Percy, who was only chuckling at my excitement. I guess I should've calmed down a bit, but can I when Gods are real?

The son of Poseidon nodded in reply and brought his index finger up, as if wanting me to keep that secret. That made me beam and return the motion. "Anywho, I'll show you the ropes of this place. But first, we should get you two sorted in the Hermes Cabin. You'll meet Luke there, and he'll take you out to train. I'll see you guys there."

Percy then walked the both of us to another cabin, which was crowded with a bundle of kids. He discreetly walked us to two sleeping bags on the floor and told us to 'get settled'. I placed down my school bag beside one of them and motioned August to do the same.

This place seemed so much better than New York City. I hope we get to stay here for longer.
