Techno liked the fall. It was when the world got quiet, and even the wars slowed down a bit.

His boots crunched on leaves that had fallen from the trees, covering the sky with orange, red, yellow, and brown. He took a breath of the crisp air, pulling his cape tighter around himself. That was when he saw him.

A flash of green, accented in the fall palette. By the time Techno turned, he was gone. It was probably just a flashy bird or something.

But he kept seeing him. At one point, he found hoof prints. But there was only one set. "Satyr?" Techno muttered, picking up a lock of blondish-brown fur and sniffing it. Well, as long as it didn't bother him.

He kneeled behind the bush, bow ready. The deer munched on the grass, eyes wide and unknowing. "Sorry ma'am, but I need something to eat before I hibernate." His finger was about to leave the string, when he was tackled and pinned down, his attacker delivering a sharp blow to his leg.

"Aargh-!" He groaned, feeling pain splinter up his leg. "Don't you dare hurt Spirit!" His attacker said, and techno looked up. His attacker was a dirty blonde satyr, his emerald eyes burning with anger.

"-Spirit?? Tha's my dinner!" Techno struggled, and the satyr kicked his leg again. "Your dinner? That's my PET! Fuck off!" The deer made a noise, and the satyr hopped over. "Don't worry, Dreamie's here."

Techno woke up. Snow was falling around him. "Fhghmk." He mumbled, trying to get up, and pain flared through his leg, notifying him that it was broken. "That little shit!" Techno caught his breath. He needed to get back home. He started to drag himself through the snow.

"This isn't working." Techno groaned, leaning back against a tree. He shivered, rubbing his knee. "That little shit..." he stared up at the trees around him, and then down. Wait a minute. He lunged forward, his hand catching a hoof.

"Got you!" He growled, ignoring the screaming of his leg. "Were you following me?" he hissed, pulling the satyr closer as he tried to kick him. "Fuck off! I was just waiting to see if you had died or not." The satyr- was it Dream? Said. Techno chuckled. "It takes more than a broken leg to kill me."

Dream kept kicking, and Techno shook off the numbness creeping up his body. "I'm supposed to be hibernating right now, and that means it's YOUR fault that I'm bothering you right now." Dream stuck his tongue out, and techno slapped him lightly on the side of the head.

"Well it's YOUR fault that i'm not hunkered down in my den right now!" Dream huffed, and techno paused. "Den?" "Absolutely not." Dream finally managed to kick techno away, standing up and kicking the snow off his hooves.

"I'm not letting you anywhere close to my stuff." the satyr turned to walk away, and techno glanced down at his hands. They were turning blue. "Wait!" he gritted his teeth, moving forward. "What if we made a deal? You let me spend this one winter in your den, and i- uh- I farm a bunch of potatoes for you."

Dream snorted. "No. You don't harm my deer- actually, no. You don't harm ANY creature in this forest, you understand?" Techno considered objecting, but he was already almost completely numb. "...fine." Dream grinned. "Good."

The satyr dragged Techno inside his burrow, tossing him on a pile of pillows. "You're lucky. I'm letting you lay on my bed." he hopped off to a rustic kitchen set, and techno groaned. "Yeah, sure. Lucky." he checked his leg, and found it bleeding from quite a few rips in his skin.

He grabbed a nearby blanket and wrapped it tightly around his leg before sighing and turning to the fireplace, getting the feeling back into his hands. He was getting drowsy again, but the need to eat was still curling in his stomach.

Dream walked back into the room, holding a wooden bowl of berries in his hands. "Here." Techno stared at the berries, and then tossed almost the whole bowl into his mouth. It didn't satisfy much. "More." "no. I need to get through the winter." Dream griped.

Techno's stomach growled loudly. "You won't need to feed me after this, remember? I'll be asleep." Dream sniffed, but turned. "I'll make you mushroom soup, then." he walked back to the kitchen, and techno rubbed his eyes, pulling his cape and boots off and stretching.

After a bit, Dream returned, sitting next to Techno. "Soup's on the stove." They sat silently for a few minutes, Dream quietly watching Techno, who was pulling the pillows up around himself. "...can you brush my hair?" Techno looked up. "What?"

"I mean- as a part of our deal, you will also have to brush my hair." Dream crossed his arms and turned his back to techno, and techno sighed. "I'm not moving from this spot. You have to come closer." he expected Dream to refuse, but to his surprise, the blonde stood up and plopped down in front of techno, his back almost touching techno's chest.

"Brush's behind you." The satyr said quickly, and techno reached over, grabbing a nicely carved hairbrush. "It's very pretty. Did you carve it?" Dream shook his head. "...no. my mom did." Techno nodded, and began to push the brush through dream's hair.

Dream's shoulders relaxed, and Techno couldn't help but smile, his body recognizing safety. The brush glided through dream's silky hair, and techno discovered two small, round horns. "How old are you?" he frowned. Usually, satyr horns were bigger.

"Adult age." Dream kicked his legs. "Mother said I was a runt, that was why my horns never grew." Techno nodded, falling silent. He also found that Dream had a very short layer of fur on his skin, and at some points, he would brush it, Dream shifting so techno could scratch the itchy spots.

It was serene. Almost intimate. Dream jumped up. "Shit! Mushrooms." he hopped out of the room, and techno put down the brush, resting his head on the pillow. Dream came back in with two bowls in his hands, the smell making techno's stomach rumble.

"Here. full of protein." Dream set the bowl beside Techno, and techno sat up, sipping it. "Mm." "I will kill you if you drip any on my bed." "I won't, I won't. I'll be out of your hair soon." he saw dream give a look, a look that reminded him of the look tommy made when he wanted techno to stay with him during bedtime. "What?" "nothing."

After he finished the soup, techno groaned, the drowsiness seeping in and settling in his bones. Dream watched him almost longingly, before reaching out and pulling the blanket around techno's waist up. "...see you in the spring." Techno nodded. "...see ya." he mumbled.
