Milo

My mom decided for us to go to grandma's house for Thanksgiving, since everyone else was going to be there. My grandma wanted to whole family to eat together for this Thanksgiving.

But for some reason I have a bad feeling, like something was going to go wrong, I just don't know what it is.

I knock on the door, after a few seconds the door swings open and I am met with my auntie.

"Hey Milo. Come on in, it's cold." She moves out of the way so I can walk through the door. Shutting the door behind me I take my coat off. The warmth of the house soothes my chilled skin.

"Hey Aunt May." I greet and I receive a small. I charge up small talk with her as we walk through the house until we reach the kitchen, where almost everyone is.

"Milo!" My mom walk over to me and pulls me into a warm hug before pulling away.

"Hey mom." I responded.

Everyone continues to greet me and I of course respond with a smile or a hi. My mom grabs my coat and drapes it over a chair before sitting my down and giving me some left over hot chocolate.

"So, how's college been baby?" My grandmother asks.

"Good. It's been a lot of work, but I'm managing my time well." I sit down before taking a sip from the hot chocolate I just received, which was hotter than I expected.

"That good. Your father would be very proud of you." My grandmother responds with a smile before tossing the cup she was just using into the sink.

"I hope so."

An unfamiliar woman steps into the kitchen, which causes me to quirk a brow. She notices me and smiles.

"You must be Milo Browne, your mom talks about you a lot. You're in college now, correct?" She holds her hand out for me to shake it.

"Um, who are you again?" I shake her hand hesitantly.

"Oh, I'm a new friend of your mom."

"Milo, this is Ms Simon." My mom gestured to the woman. She looked to be in her early forties. Brown eyes, black hair that went no further than her shoulders.

"Nice to meet you Ms Simon." I let go of her hand and took another sip from the black mug in my hand that reads, Coffee is a human charger.

"I have a son around you age, he's 19. He's upstairs, you should meet him. He's really sweet."

As much as I don't want to move, I decided to stand up and go see Ms Simon's son. I look in all the rooms, and he's no where to be seen. I look in the last room, which was in my mom's old room. And my eyes widen.

"Nathan!" I shout, he turns around from whatever he was doing and he's as shocked as me.

"What in the hell are you doing here?" He retorts, standing up from the bed and walking over to me with an angry scowl.

"I should be asking you that. This is my grandmother's house, why are you here?" My arms cross at him, as I looked him up and down. Of course he has to be here. Out of everyone I hate, of course he's here.

"If you must know, my mom insisted I come here. If I would have known you would've been here, trust me I would have stayed home."

"How long are you staying?"

"Until tomorrow."

Ugh, so I have to deal with this shit head until tomorrow. I roll my eyes at the thought of having to deal with him all night. And knowing my luck we were gonna have to sleep in the same room or some shit.

"You know, if I squint hard enough you look manage to look even uglier." He smirk, satisfied with his unfunny comment. It was unfunny, but it still managed to piss me off.

"I hate you so much."

"I'm glad we're on the same page." He responds before pushing past me. I groan as I watch him walk down the stairs. Knowing that I have to go downstairs.

"So you know one another?" My mother asks.

"Yes." Sadly.

"Are you guys friends?" My mom brow raised.

"N-"

"Yea, close friends." Nathan interrupts me, flashing his signature smile at my mom.

No the hell we aren't. In what alternative universe are we friends in. Did he forget who I am or something.

"That's good."

He grabs me and pulls me to the stairs, where no one can see us. I rip my hand away from his, wiping it on my shirt.

"Why the hell did you tell them that lie-"

"If I didn't, they would have forced us to get to know each other. And for one you're the most annoying guy I know, not even Caleb is as annoying as you."

I eye twitches from how he's talking about Caleb. I reframe myself from hitting him and let his annoying voice continue talking.

"And I know you hate me as much as I hate you, so you should be thanking me."

"I will never thank you you piece of shit. The way you talk about Caleb and how you treat him will never make me thank you in any way, shape, or form." I angrily retort as I storm away from him. Saying thank to him makes me want to gag. Why would I say thank you to a pathetic waste of space?

"Milo, Nathan, come eat you two!"
