The whole way home Alex was bugging me to tell him what happened at Zach's house. For some reason I was nervous to tell him.
"Nothing happened," I say for the millionth time.
"Come on you know you can tell me." Alex continues to bug me.
Why won't he let this go.
"There's nothing to tell." I say trying to hide my smile.
"Well there has to be a reason you can't stop smiling," he did not taking his eyes off the road.
"Okay, fine! Zach may have asked me on a date," I finally say giving up.
"He what!!" Alex yelled slamming on the breaks, causing me to fly forward almost hitting my head oh the dashboard. Thank the lord for seat-belts.
"What the hell was that about!" I yelled at him.
"Zach asked you on a date and you said yes?!" He asked through his clenched jaw. He was gripping the steering wheel so tight his knuckles were turning white.
"Yeah, what's wrong with that?"
"Nothing, nevermind." He said beginning to drive again not loosing his grip on the steering wheel. The rest of the drive was silent. Not an awkward silence, not a peaceful silence, but it was definitely the furthest thing from a comfortable silence. I would occasionally look in his direction but he would just stare out the windshield.
When we arrived at my house Alex didn't hesitate to get out of the car. I just sat there for a moment shaking my head, then quickly followed behind him.
Alex had went an sat down at the dinner table and I took a seat right next to him. Alex scooted further from me leaving a gab between us. I let out a small sigh and just stared down at the table for the rest of the dinner.
Through out the week Alex continued to keep his distance from me. He would still text me in the morning to walk to school and we'd walk home after, but that was it. The only reason he would talk or hangout with me outside of school is if it was about school work. If I even attempted to talk about something other than homework he would either change the subject or completely blow me off. I still don't understand why he's mad at me.
I decided to have a girl night tonight so I could do three things. Get their opinion on what I should do about Alex, talk to Alyssa about Kaleb, and for them to help me pick out an outfit for my date with Zach.
Katie, Alyssa, and I decided to go to the mall right after school. The boys decided to have a guys night as well. Gage was more excited then anyone. His exact words,"finally I thought I'd never get away from those girls." I guess it's been too long since he has hung out with just guys.
On the way to the mall we blasted the radio and sung our hearts out. Katie as such a beautiful voice.
"I didn't know you could sing," I say pushing Katie's shoulder.
"Not really," she said trying pretend that she's not amazing.
"Are you kidding me did you hear yourself," I say looking at her like she a crazy person.
"She always does this. She won't sing in front of anyone, not even Gage," Alyssa joins the conversation.
"Well there nothing to be shy about girl. You can sang!" I say trying to encourage her.
