As Anya dashed off to her room, Twilight—no, Loid Forger—rubbed his temples, trying to make sense of what just happened. Anya, wanting a big brother out of nowhere? It didn't quite add up, and with her track record of wild ideas, it was almost certainly more complicated than she made it sound.

He glanced over his newspaper, his mind drifting back to her words. Damien Desmond. Of course, it had to do with the mission. Somehow, Anya had latched onto the idea that having a brother would help her befriend Damien, which in turn would assist with Operation Strixx. Loid sighed.

Having a sibling isn't something you can just conjure up for convenience... It was a ridiculous idea. Bringing someone else into this fake family would only complicate things. Maintaining this cover was already difficult enough with just Yor and Anya. He could only imagine how much harder it would be with a new "family member" added to the mix.

Not to mention Yor. Convincing her to go along with this? That would be a whole new level of trouble. Despite her odd behavior and air of mystery, Yor still took her role as Anya's mother seriously, and she would definitely have questions if Loid suddenly suggested adopting another child, especially a big brother for Anya.

Yor would definitely be suspicious... Loid thought, picturing her wide-eyed reaction. She'd probably stutter through the entire conversation, and knowing her awkward nature, she'd go along with it just to not make things uncomfortable. That could actually work in his favor, but still—her questions would be never-ending.

And what if Yor started thinking about her own family? What if it stirred up some complicated feelings? Loid didn't know much about her past, and the last thing he needed was to deal with emotional baggage on top of everything else. Maintaining the façade of a happy family was already a delicate balancing act, especially when none of them knew the other's true identity.

He sighed again, deeper this time, folding his newspaper. Anya's intentions might be pure—at least in her childishly airheaded way—but the logistics of adding another child to the mix, especially for something as trivial as impressing Damien Desmond, seemed like a monumental headache.

Still, Loid mused, the fact that Anya is thinking about the Desmond boy is progress. If befriending Damien helps me get closer to his father... it's not entirely off the table.

But how would he explain this sudden decision to adopt an older sibling without raising eyebrows at WISE or among the Desmonds themselves? It was already suspicious enough that this makeshift family existed solely for his mission. Adding another member could blow the whole cover if not handled perfectly.

And yet, there was that tiny, nagging thought in the back of his mind. If Anya was truly invested in making this happen, her persistence could become more troublesome than the idea itself. The girl had a knack for creating chaos, and if he didn't address her request in some way, she might come up with her own solution.

Loid shook his head, muttering under his breath. "A big brother, huh? This is going to be a headache."
