As Evan tied up a bag he heard shouting, his shoulders tensed up. He bolted over to the noise and took a sigh of relief, Red stood in front of William with her arms crossed. In the way a disappointed mother looked at her child, meanwhile William was hunched over grunting in pain.

" What's going on?" he asked and braced himself for the worst, but she turned around her face droopy. " I'm just asking him to help clean up, tie one bag."
Evan straightened himself and looked at her rather than at William. It was an indirect "Look at him," she rolled her eyes and walked away. He expected some big blow up, but instead she seemed deflated and completely worn out.
" Just sit down, we're almost done anyway," he said softly, it felt weird for him to talk at a normal level. Like a shadow hovered over all of them, hiding the fact they were walking amongst the dead, the ones they killed.
" I'm fine," he scowled angrily before turning away and walking in the direction of the exit.
Evan sighed, Why does he have to be so stubborn?  He didn't like compilations, obstacles, difficultes, they were all things that required effort and time to pass. Things Evan felt he was constantly running out of.
" All done!" Red's voice called out from somewhere in the warehouse, her voice echoing off the walls. Evan nodded to himself and followed William, his steps made little to no sound. But all he could remember was that sickening tap that screamed inside his ears, those footsteps as they crept closer with each step. He shuddered, trying to shake off the feeling.
" Ready to go?" She asked him, Evan thought about it for a second. He looked around, in his mind he was standing in front of the empty chair. Reaching for something that wasn't there anymore, but it felt like it was. It felt like he was still clutching John's hand, a still cold hand.
" Yeah..." he said quietly, " Let me just call Ms. K" as soon as Evan began calling Kristen, Willaim grabbed the phone from his hands. " What the hell?" he asked, completely baffled.
William didn't even look up from the screen, " I'll give it back just let me tell her," he said harshly. As much as Evan would have loved to steal his phone back he decided it wasn't worth it.
It doesn't matter anyway, he rolled his eyes. " Proceed," Evan said sarcastically. " Hello?" William asked over the phone.
" Yes, that's what I'm calling about," he said coldly. " John was in the warehouse with a group of people guarding him, there was a bit of commotion. In the end, John didn't make it."
Evan looked down, trying to ignore the sting those words gave him. " Please send a team to dispose of the bags," and with that William hung up. He handed Evan back his phone, " You do know this was a set up right?" Evan asked him.
" Of course I know, we basically faced an army," he said, like it was obvious. He raised an eyebrow, " Why did you leave that out then?"

William glared at him, " Don't worry about it," he said as if Evan was some kind of kid who wasn't allowed to know what was going on. His face tightened, Evan watched as William's posture straightened and how his lips formed a perfectly straight line.
There is definitely something to worry about, he thought. " Tell me," he demanded. William shook his head stiffly, " I will later," he said through gritted teeth. Evan scoffed, 'Later'
Did he believe William? No, not for one second. But he felt too drained to try and put up an argument, all parts of his body felt heavier. As soon as they got inside the car tension filled every last corner. It was like they had things to say but never the right words, so it was silence. Silence, familiar silence. Evan reclined back in his seat, he forced his eyes open. Everything was crushing him, bit by bit. It seemed it wouldn't stop until there was nothing left of him, only a shell of the person he used to be. There was little hope, little happiness in his life. A growing emptiness, and it pained him in every breath he took, every step he walked. It would never leave, always there.
" Take a nap," William mumbled to Evan, "Mhm..." he replied, no strength left to manage words. His eyelids sealed shut, as his body relaxed. His mind slowly shutting down, he had one last thought before drifting out of consciousness.
'Later' I hope there is a later.
