Evan blinked at him, as if trying to look for the joke in his sentence. Searching for something to prove he wasn't serious, but there was nothing.
" Are you serious?" he asked, Evan had attempted to hide his eagerness but failed. " Do you want to take the offer or not blondie?" William asked, crossing his arms over his chest.
Evan took a minute to think, there were things he had to take into consideration but the biggest one was William. He didn't know where they stood, or how he felt about him anymore. It was a rollercoaster with him, one second Evan hated him with every passion in his body, and the next he was tolerable.
Am I really that desperate to get a good night of sleep?  Evan already knew the answer as the lingering exhaustion seemed to double in size as soon as he asked. He knew he needed one night of sleep, just one.
Evan smiled, " Sure," he said, the slight joy visible to all. " Alright," he said reluctantly, " But don't get used to it, this is just a one time thing."
Evan laughed as he grabbed his phone and followed William out of the room, shutting the door behind him. He had a wide grin on his face, if it were any other day he would've been embarrassed to be so smiley. However in his wreck of a life something good actually happened, and he was going to soak it up for all it was worth. For all he knew it could be the last good thing that happens to him, Evan wouldn't be surprised.
The elevator doors closed shut, " So, do you live in an apartment or a house?" he asked, it didn't really matter to him but he wanted to have a conversation. " It's an apartment, a really nice one though."
Evan tried to not say anything about William's swollen mark on his face, it had gotten darker and it was clear there had been no treatment to it. It bothered him, more than he wanted it too. I'll help him later. He promised himself, it was the only way he could keep his mouth shut.
The doors opened and both of them passed by the lobby, there was a shift in the air as they walked past. Unlike Evan, William held his head up high with little care.
He either doesn't care, or is really oblivious. He thought, both were equally good possibilities. When it came down to William, feelings and emotions were out of the picture. Like he was always restraining himself from being human. Even the best actors mess up. Eavn remembered the times when William failed to pretend, outbursts.
As he got into the car he stared at William for a good 10 seconds, " What?" he asked, " Thank you," he said, " I mean it."
William huffed, " Yeah, okay," he said quietly, backing out of the parking space.
Evan laid back in the soft seat, it wasn't dusk yet but the melting sky looked lovely nonetheless. He looked at the blur of the world as it passed by, he paid more attention to the people walking along the sidewalks. Some were families, strangers, some were even holding hands. There was so much going on all at once, so many stories being lived and told. Evan wondered if someone would ever tell his story, it didn't matter much but it was a quaint thought. He pulled out his phone, checking his messages. Nothing new.
He sighed and mumbled something inaudible, " What was that?" William asked, " Nothing," he quickly replied. " Alright, we're here."
Evan unbuckled his seat belt and closed the car door. Evan's neck hurt from just trying to look at the building, it was impressingly tall. That has to be at least 12 floors.  He thought as he admired the building, it was a modern looking building but stunning nonetheless.
Evan followed William into the elevator, " 14th floor," as he searched through the button he realized it was the highest floor. He couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy as he imagined the view, he smiled. Excitement bubbling up inside him like a shaken soda.
Once the elevator doors opened William held open his apartment door for Evan, as soon as he stepped inside Evan's mouth hung wide open. His apartment was beautiful, modern and luxurious. But most important of all, it was warm. Evan didn't feel freezing cold air hit his face as soon as he entered, instead it was an addicting warmth.
" This place is beautiful," he said, taking off his coat, "  I told you it was nice," William replied.
William brushed past Evan going further into the apartment, just as Evan was about to follow William called out, "  Take your damn shoes off!"
He laughed, and slipped off his shoes and placed them right next to William's. He took a seat on the blue couch, sinking into the comfort. " There's food in the pantry, help yourself. I'm taking a shower."
Evan nodded and hurried over to the pantry, he was starving. He put some water to boil and grabbed raw pasta as well as everything else he needed.
