𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 28 - 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐭𝐡'𝐬?

   

Jungkook calls Mingyu and puts the phone on speaker, placing it on his desk. "Mingyu, it's me. I need an update on the company situation. How are the meetings going?"

Mingyu's voice comes through the phone, tense and annoyed. "The meetings are fine. But I want to ask you something, Mr Jeon."  He hesitates,  "Y/n is the interior designer of your house, right? Do you know anything about her?"

Jungkook pauses, considering his words carefully. "She's a professional, Mingyu. That's all I need to know. Her personal life is none of our business." He sighs, running a hand through his hair. "Why are you so concerned about the architect?"
"Because...because she's my crush" Mingyu bursts out, his frustration boiling over. "And now she's going to be in and out of your house, and I can't stand the thought of her being around your cousin. Btw, do you remember anything else?"
Jungkook's eyes widen in surprise, and he can't help but chuckle darkly at Mingyu's admission. "Your crush? Really, Mingyu? You should have said something sooner. As for your second question, no, I don't remember anything else. Should I?"
Mingyu groans, wishing he could take back his words. "Never mind...It's not important. He pauses "How's everything going there and when will you come back Mr Jeon?"
"Everything is under control here. They are cooperating for now, but I don't trust them. As for when I'll be back..." He glances at the bedroom door again, his expression unreadable. "Soon. I'll be back soon." He says, his voice gruff.

Mingyu nods, his mind still preoccupied with thoughts of Y/n. He forces himself to focus on business. "Alright, Mr Jeon. I'll keep things running smoothly here. Just...be careful, please." He pauses, then adds softly, "And..."

Jungkook's phone goes silent for a moment, and Mingyu can practically hear him sighing on the other end. "And what, Mingyu?" He asks, his tone a little sharper than before. "Spit it out."

Mingyu takes a deep breath. "And...and if you see her..... please stay away from her. Because, her lover died few years ago. After that incident, whoever she saw with similar to his face, she would think it's her lover .I have seen him. He has a resemblance to your face."
Jungkook's expression softens, and he feels a pang of sympathy for Y/n. He also understands Mingyu's concern now. "I see. Alright, Mingyu. I'll keep that in mind. I promise I won't...overstep. Has she any other problems..... mentally?"
Mingyu relaxes, relieved that Jungkook understands. "No, not really. She's just a bit...emotional. She wears her heart on her sleeve, you know? And she's really dedicated to her work. That's all I know, Mr Jeon."

Jungkook nods, even though Mingyu can't see him. He's quiet for a moment, his mind racing with thoughts of that girl. "Alright, Mingyu. I'll be careful around her. You can trust me on this." He pauses, then adds, "And Mingyu?"

Mingyu tilts his head slightly, listening intently. "Yes, Mr Jeon?" He replies softly. "What is it?"
Jungkook's voice turns serious, almost gentle. "If you like her that much...maybe you should confess to her. Life is short, Mingyu. Don't let opportunities slip by."

"I...I would. But you know, if she... If she sees you, she'll never like me and also if you act nice to her... she'll think she got her lover back...."

Jungkook's expression darkens, and he grips his phone tightly. "I see. Well, I'll make sure to avoid her as much as possible. And won't be nice to her. I'll act like rude to her. Then she won't think that I'm her dead lover. Don't worry, Mingyu. I won't steal her away from you. "

Mingyu breathes a sigh of relief. "Thank you, Mr Jeon. I really appreciate your understanding and help with this delicate situation. Your discretion means a lot to me and to her wellbeing." He pauses, then adds softly. "And...thank you for the advice."
Jungkook's voice is cold and distant as he replies, "Just remember, Mingyu. I'm doing this for you, not because I care about her or anything. Don't forget that.And i think she's too loyal to her boyfriend. If you get her, you'll be lucky" He ends the call abruptly, his mind already wandering back to his own problems and schemes.
