"Good morning, Margaret!" I cheerfully greeted the sweet woman as Quinn and I walked into The Buttered Biscuit. She gave a quick wave and after serving Mr. Jones his usual black coffee, walked over to the counter to take our order. I asked for my usual and Quinn decided to get an iced caramel latte with a cinnamon biscuit.

The café was relatively quiet this morning, aside from a few other regulars, which was a little odd for a Saturday morning but the air still smelled of cinnamon, dough, and coffee.

"You can go choose a table while I pay," I said to Quinn, pointing to my usual spot, "I usually sit over there."

Quinn smiled and walked over to the best table in the small café. I got my wallet out to pay, looking at Margaret expectantly.

"Your total is $10.31."

I tilted my head, confused. "Are you sure? I am paying for my sister as well. So, two orders instead of just one."

Margaret smiled, a mischievous glint in her eye, "I know. It's $10.31, honey."

"Quit giving me stuff 'on the house.' I know it is more than ten dollars."

"You're right. It's ten dollars...and thirty-one cents."

I shook my head at her and sighed, giving up on trying to argue with her.

"Fine. Here you go," I replied, a smile on my face as I handed her my card. She swiped it and handed it back to me but before I could grab it, she moved it just out of my reach.

"Tell your boy I said hi when you see him next."

I slightly laughed and shook my head at her again. Amusement coated my tone as I replied, "He's not my boy. Just give me my card."

She handed it back to me with a wink and said, "Maybe not yet anyway," before disappearing into the kitchen. I tucked my card back into my wallet and walked over to my sister.

She gave me a questioning look, "Why is your face so red? Is everything okay?"

I nervously laughed, "Margaret was just teasing me about something."

Quinn quirked an eyebrow, expecting me to elaborate but I just waved my hand dismissively and thankfully she dropped it.

"So, how has work been lately?" she asked as she settled back into her chair.

I told her about how Jenny invited me out for drinks and the disaster that was that entire experience. I might have left out the information about a certain someone because I knew that if I told Quinn about Eli, she would make a big deal out of it. Mostly because I haven't really dated since my first relationship which was five years ago, and it wasn't really a good relationship anyway.

He wasn't a bad guy; I just didn't know I wasn't his only girl. And once I found out, he blocked me on everything so maybe that does make him a bad guy. Regardless, I hope he is happy wherever he is now. I don't wish bad things for him; he just wasn't my person and that is okay. But yeah, Quinn doesn't need to know about Eli right now.

My thoughts are interrupted by Margaret bringing out our breakfast.

"Here ya go, my lovelies!"

"Thank you," Quinn and I replied in unison, making us both glance at each other and smile before I turned my attention back to Margaret.

"This is my sister, Quinn. She is visiting this weekend, and I couldn't miss the chance to bring her to eat some of your delicious food!"

Margaret placed a hand over her heart and beamed, "Well, Miss Quinn, it is a pleasure to meet you." She leaned down closer to the table and put a hand over the side of her mouth. She lowered her voice and, in a whisper, said, "Don't tell anyone but your sister is my favorite customer so that makes you my favorite too."
