*THUMP!*

D-16 lunged forward, his metallic fingers grasping Orion Pax's servo just in time, preventing his best friend from plummeting into the vast, gaping chasm that loomed ominously below. "No. No, no, no, no, no!" The silver mech's voice trembled with a blend of regret and disbelief, each word a desperate plea as he studied the injured form of Orion, his frame battered and vulnerable. "Why... Why did you do that!? Why!?" he demanded, his tone rising with anguish.

The Codex felt as if the very foundation of his existence was crumbling before his optic. His left screen optic flickered erratically, a glitch reflecting the turmoil whirling within him. It struggled to process the chaos of the moment, the only thing it could fixate on being the emblem of the Celtric star, a symbol that now felt foreign against the backdrop of his distress.

"No. No, this..." The Codex shook his helm vigorously, a gesture that spoke of the turmoil raging inside. Falling to his knees, he felt the coldness of the ground beneath him as if it were a harsh reminder of his helplessness. "[GUILT] This can't be happening," he stammered, his voice hollow, echoing the terror gnawing at his core.

He should've been quicker. He should've taken the hit himself. He should've been the one to face the danger, not Orion Pax. Regret flooded him like a tidal wave, washing over every ounce of rational thought. He should've stopped D-16 from intervening. He should've considered every possibility that could have led to this disastrous moment.

As the Codex battled through an overwhelming surge of negative emotions flooding his spark, the weight of shock, horror, and guilt clashed violently within him. It felt as if time had slowed, forcing him to witness the nightmare unfolding in excruciating detail. His processor sputtered and whirred, matching the frantic pace of his racing thoughts, struggling to make sense of the devastation before him.

His functioning optic was filled with coolant that threatened to overflow, rendering his vision blurred and distorted, obscuring the anguished scene before him. Coolant streamed down his face, metal glistening under the harsh light, a testament to his sorrow. His spark ached, a heavy leaden weight pressing down on him as if the very essence of his being was being crushed under the enormity of his emotions. Tremors wracked his frame, each shiver a silent manifestation of the overwhelming sorrow clawing at his insides, devouring him from within.

What have you done?

You did what you had to do.

Why did he have to do this!?

He was only getting in the way.

He was our friend!

He was holding us back!

He wasn't our enemy!

Sentinel took everything from us, and Orion was stopping us!

The Codex's body trembled slightly, listening to two new voices in his helm. They were both mind and spark unionized, but despite their similarities, they had different ideals. One told him he should be worried about his friend, who was now dying. The other told him it was all part of his rightful revenge to get at Sentinel—cutting off connections and ensuring they wouldn't get in the way.
