San watched her sleep in silence, caressing the reverse of her hand with his thumb as he let her enjoy some rest she had been craving since she woke up a few hours ago. Her parents had left as soon as they saw him there, feeling suddenly calm when they knew their daughter was well taken care of.
Her fingers suddenly moved under his touch, intertwining their digits together before her eyes opened to look at him.
—Did I fall asleep again? —she mumbled, closing her eyes.
—Not even for thirty minutes —he calmly answered.
She felt better when she made sure that her parents saw she was well, and that it was only something related to stress and not her illness -at least, not directly. And after they left, she remembered talking to San for a few minutes before everything in her memory turned blank.
—You fell asleep while you were complaining of being here for a bit more —he scoffed.
—Because I hate being here —she repeated.
—I know your restless ass is thinking about anything but resting —his hand moved up to her head, lovingly patting her—, but be patient. I was told the nurse would come in a while to discharge you.
—It's still too long —she mumbled, her lip twitching in disgust.
—Do you want me to make it shorter?
—How? —she asked, instantly intrigued.
His eyebrows raised, while his body bent over hers, their lips almost touching, until two knocks on the door and a loud voice announced somebody else was here, and neither of them needed to look to know who it was.
—How's the sick girl doing? —Wooyoung sang from the door.
San's shoulders fell heavily with a sigh, before he stood straight to look at his five friends. Wooyoung was hurriedly stepping inside with a box of chocolates and flowers, while Yeosang, Meghan, Sam and Jongho walked behind him.
—What he's carrying is from all of us, although he isn't saying anything —Meghan pointed out.
—I was going to say it —Wooyoung hurriedly commented, turning to Y/n with a smile to hand her the gifts.
—Thank you.
—The rest of the boys were all working yet, but they said they'd come later —Jongho mentioned, poking his hands inside his pockets.
—Oh, it's not necessary —Y/n rushed to say—. I probably won't be here for too long.
—Really? —Sam sounded excited while asking.
—Yeah, it was just a little faint —she shrugged.
While Y/n looked at the flowers and got invested in what was inside the chocolates box, all eyes went straight to San, standing at the right side of the bed while looking at his girlfriend with heart eyes.
—Are you... everything all right between you two? —Yeosang dared to ask, pointing at his two friends.
Y/n and San grinned when looking at each other, before San answered.
—We're better than ever —his confidence only lasted until he said the last word—... right? —he looked back at Y/n.
—Right —she nodded.
The seven of them kept chatting randomly, just talking about their day as a way to distract Y/n from the fact that she was in a hospital, to help her forget about the reason why she was there again.
Their conversation was interrupted by a young girl peeking her head through the open door, looking shyly at the big group of people surrounding Y/n, until Wooyoung and Meghan decided to step back to allow their friend to look at the person by the door.
