Josh's POV

"Uh, Josh?"

I blink.

Someone shifts uncomfortably underneath me.

I blink again, my gaze shifting back into reality. My eyes come into contact with Oli's dark orbs that reflect a mixture of disappointment and uneasiness. I was still sat in his lap.

"Huh," I respond, blinking once more.

Oli averts his gaze away from mine, his shoulders deflating sadly. His bottom lip gets caught between his teeth before relieving me of my cluelessness.

"I, uh, I ask you to, um... marry me," he mumbles.

Whoa.

My eyes widen in disbelief.

That's right.

I went blank for a moment there after he asked me the first time... I thought I imagined it.

Fuck.

This is real. All very very real.

Goose bumps rises upon my skin and my heart pounds erratically inside my chest. I swallow thickly. Is this actually happening right now? I feel like I've been hit with a huge head rush.

"You don't have to answer right away... think about it, or not, whatever, I get it. It's too soon." I listen to Oli fumble over his words awkwardly.

He had suddenly became a nervous wreck and unable to keep eye contact with me. I bite my bottom lip feeling a wave of guilt wash over me. I didn't mean to cause such a delay in my response but I was just trying to get over the initial shock at his bombshell of a question he just landed on me.

But after god knows how many minutes ticked by and the shock began wearing off I find myself welling up but most importantly, smiling. The corners of my mouth growing wider and wider as the butterflies in my stomach intensify. There was no anxiety that stirred within me, maybe there should have been but there wasn't. I was just in shock but most of all happy.

Oli Sykes, the stranger I met in those nasty club toilets eighteen months ago. The man that chose me to be his one nightstand, a fling, a distraction to his drug addiction and gang lifestyle. The man who stole my heart and broke it, but pieced it back together again. Who drove me to Hell and back. The man who gave me our beautiful son, gave us the family life we both desperately craved, had asked me to marry him... What the fuck.

But I knew my answer.

"Yes," I whisper and his head shoots up at me in disbelief. "Yes, I'll marry you."

He gasps in relief. "Seriously?"

I nod eagerly unable to hide my smile and that melts the sadness away from Oli's face.

"Of course I'll marry you!" I state the obvious. "As if the answer would be anything else." Oli breaks out into a wide smile and I can't help but throw my arms around his neck. He cups my cheeks with his hands and reaches up to capture his lips with mine.

He kisses me softly but I could feel the desperation behind it despite how much he continues to hold me like a delicate flower. The kiss is loving and gentle and I melt into it nonetheless to fully embrace this pure moment of joy between us.
