Fragments

In the golden glow of childhood days,
We ran through fields in a carefree haze,
With laughter that danced on the summer breeze,
Creating memories like leaves on trees.

We'd climb the hills where the wildflowers grew,
Whispering secrets that only we knew.
With marbles and games, we'd craft our own fate,
In the kingdom of dreams, we were never late.

But time, that thief with its swift, silent hand,
Began to pull us from our promised land.
With every school year, new paths would unfold,
As life painted stories both vivid and bold.

You found your passion in the written word,
While I chased shadows, where laughter stirred.
Yet, in the quiet, our hearts still remained,
Bound by the echoes of joy unrestrained.

Then came the day when the skies turned gray,
When laughter faltered and faded away.
A phone call whispered, "It's time to let go,"
And suddenly, the world felt heavy and slow.

I stood by the window, staring at the rain,
Memories flooding, like waves of sweet pain.
The games we had played, the dreams we once spun,
Now felt like a story half-written, undone.

You left too soon, like a fleeting spark,
A light that shone bright, now lost in the dark.
The photographs linger, but time does not pause,
And I search for solace in the silence, because...

The laughter we shared is now a soft sigh,
A reminder of moments that fluttered and fly.
I walk through the halls where your spirit still plays,
In corners of memories, where sunlight stays.

Yet as the years pass, I hold you so near,
In echoes of laughter, in every sweet tear.
For though we are parted by distance and time,
Your voice is a melody, forever in rhyme.

So I'll keep you alive in the tales that I tell,
In the hearts of our friends, where your spirit can dwell.
For childhood may fade, but true bonds never break,
In the garden of memory, our friendship will wake.

With each passing season, I'll carry your name,
In the quiet of night, in the flicker of flame.
You were my brother, my sister, my guide,
In the tapestry woven, you're forever inside.

And as I look back on those innocent days,
I find peace in the echoes of our joyful ways.
For though we may wander on separate roads,
In the heart's gentle chambers, our friendship explodes.

So here's to the laughter, the dreams, and the fun,
To the light that you brought, though our time now is done.
You'll always be with me, my childhood friend dear,
In the whispers of memory, you'll always be near.
